About
The year is 1997.
Listening stations have detected a massive, non-biological sonar anomaly at the bottom of a remote sector of the Pacific Ocean. Its acoustic signature matches no known terrestrial vessel, and its exact location remains unknown.
You are sent in a small submersible to investigate possible targets, identify the source of the signal, and report your findings back to the surface.
The Abyss Below is a short PSX-style deep-sea psychological horror game about isolation, limited visibility, and discovering something that should not exist. The entire experience is designed to be played in a single sitting, taking about an hour to complete.
Visibility is almost zero, and there is no clean HUD. Use the physical instruments inside your cockpit to stay on course: sonar, depth, map, and onboard telemetry.
Follow coordinates and read sonar returns as you move through dark underwater terrain. Your front window only shows fragments of what is ahead — the rest must be understood through sound, signals, and instruments.
Reach each target, maneuver into optimal range, and use onboard sensors to send scan data back to the surface.
Each scan reveals another piece of the mystery, drawing you closer to the source of the anomaly.
Follow the trail of strange targets through the dark and send your findings back to the surface.
What begins as a search for an unknown sonar anomaly gradually leads toward something hidden beneath the seafloor. Distorted radio contact, impossible structures, and unexplained signals begin to reshape the mission piece by piece.
Something down there has been waiting for a very long time.
And every scan brings you closer to it.

Charming, I don't mind it is short but I'd like some closure on the story or it being presented in a more cinematic way. I recommend it but take it more like those rides in Disney you go for the experience!
Graphics quality is roughly 1999 (hey, the game is set in 1997 so I guess it makes sense)..minimap takes a while to get used to... But it's a ton of fun. Need a quick break from netrunning / slashing people with swords / being a pirate / pretending to be James Bond at a bargain price?. This game has got you covered 👍 Oh, and if you refund it because you finished in less than two hours? I know where you live 😂

"Psychologischer Tiefsee-Horror im PSX-Stil" trifft es exakt! Ich war sehr beeindruckt von der simplen Machart, gepaart mit subtilem Horror und netter Story. Dieser Titel hat "Tiefgang" und viel Potential, dass hoffentlich noch ausgeschöpft werden wird - bitte mehr davon!
good lil game here
매우 불편하고 불쾌한 게임. 최악의 인디 게임.
Enjoyed it. Simple but well made and very immersive.
Absolute dog sh1t of a game. Game starts - shows you how to move backwards and forwards. Map appears with a target. Your sonar looks different to the map. Map then randomly changes - no explanation what so ever. I spent ten mins literally moving in different directions with nothing happening in absolute darkness. Worst indie horror game i have ever played. Sick of my life in under ten mins playing this trash. Avoid like the plague. REFUNDED WITH EXTREME PREJUDICE.
