Security Booth: Director's Cut, developed by Kyle Horwood and published by Cloud Colony Games, is a first-person indie horror game that immerses players in a tense, atmospheric experience set in 1996. You assume the role of a night-shift security guard stationed at the entrance of Nova Nexus, a mysterious science facility. Your primary responsibility is to verify the credentials of arriving vehicles, ensuring that only authorized personnel gain access. However, as the night progresses, unsettling events unfold, and the line between routine security work and something far more sinister begins to blur. The gameplay centers around a simple yet effective mechanic: checking the license plates of incoming vehicles against a register. If a vehicle's plate doesn't match an authorized entry, you must deny access. This straightforward task becomes increasingly complex as the game introduces randomized vehicles, unexpected events, and a growing sense of unease. The Director's Cut edition enhances the original experience with several improvements, including widescreen support, controller compatibility, and additional endings, bringing the total to seven. These new endings offer varied outcomes based on the player's decisions, adding replayability and depth to the narrative. Visually, the game adopts a lo-fi, VHS-inspired aesthetic that evokes the look and feel of 1990s-era horror media. The grainy textures, muted color palette, and atmospheric lighting contribute to a sense of isolation and tension. The minimalist design of the security booth and its surroundings enhances the feeling of confinement, making every decision and every knock on the booth window more impactful. The sound design plays a crucial role in building suspense. The ambient noises of the night, the hum of the booth's equipment, and the occasional unsettling sounds from outside create an auditory landscape that keeps players on edge. The subtle use of audio cues alerts players to approaching vehicles or potential threats, heightening the sense of immersion and urgency. Critically, Security Booth: Director's Cut has been well-received, holding a "Very Positive" rating on Steam based on over 200 user reviews. Players have praised the game's atmosphere, storytelling, and the tension that builds throughout the experience. The game's short duration, typically around 10-15 minutes per playthrough, makes it an accessible choice for those seeking a quick yet impactful horror experience. In conclusion, Security Booth: Director's Cut offers a compelling and immersive horror experience that leverages simplicity to create a sense of dread and suspense. Its blend of atmospheric design, engaging gameplay mechanics, and narrative depth makes it a standout title for fans of indie horror games. Whether you're a seasoned horror enthusiast or a newcomer to the genre, this game provides a memorable and chilling experience that lingers long after the screen fades to black. Rating: 8/10
Probablemente de los mejores, si no el mejor juego de terror que jugué en mi vida. 0 jumpscares, ni sustos baratos, todo buena historia, buen lore y 7 finales increibles... Encima tiene como 40 referencias a Lost, 20/10
VERY BORING!!! Nothing was really happening for the majority of the game. Even when it felt like the story was going somewhere the game just ended. No scares and didnt even feel for a second like i was in any danger. Wasted 4 euros and half an hour of my life.
❤️
Really fun "Papers, Please" type of game.
x-- 6/10 --x Good little retro horror. Gameplay felt a bit bland, but the story and multiple endings kept it interesting.

short, sweet, spooky great aesthetic with the psx vhs look! the game is not trying to be more than the sum of it's parts. it is a less harsh less fleshed out paper's please which hey i would pay more for more depth, more difficulty and more scares! if you soak in the pixelated atmosphere and get into the mood this is a good time even if you see everything within an hour.
Pretty good.
