The controls are hard to get a hand of, just remember to hold M1 with the laser for the first half of the game, that's the only way the gradually increasing enemies can be dealt with. Over all though Terra Nova is a good game, it's that 90s FPS DOS game cheese with still smart game design that keeps you on the edge of your seat. Like all Looking Glass games some secrets do require a lot of insider knowledge to know like the last mission having infinite spawn for enemies, so if you just run in and out it's done in a minute compared to 10 minute attempts if you try wiping maps like you did the rest of the game, but you can figure it out for yourself. Once you adjust to the feel of things the keyboard look doesn't become a problem, for the cheap price nowadays this is more than worth a buy and play through.
good Revi call for old game sell on steam.
Is this game good? Yes. Is this game dated? Also yes. The fact that it still feels so good to play now is a testament to just how good Looking Glass Technologies was at their craft. Yes, the controls are a little outdated and janky, but the rest of the game is remarkably modern in its presentation.
For a 90s game, the game is fun and really good, I never played it when it released. The graphics are very good for the time, the only issue I have like most older 90s game... Is that the controls are horrid. I wish there was remaster to redo the whole game, maybe update the graphics a little.
https://youtu.be/ZyY3-gpHBi0 Plenty of clever ideas and systems are on display in this nearly thirty year old game that make it as interesting as much as it has aged poorly.
Clasicc 90's game
Man I loved this game when I was younger and just getting into PC gaming. I played the crap out of this game. I was so excited to see NightDive studios tackle this and bring it back on modern systems. However I was so disappointed to see that there wasn't much done in the way of remastering it. No improved graphics or updated resolutions to enhance your experience. It's basically the same old game running on dosbox on modern systems. Still if you have never played it it's worth a romp.
As a kid, I loved the old vehicle simulators like Wing Commander and Mechwarrior, especially when they had FMVs to complement the story. I discovered Terra Nova as an adult, and loved it immediately. It became one of my greatest of all time. There really isn't anything about this game that I don't love, from the crunchy graphics, level design, soundtrack, the gameplay, the story, and an enemy communist political entity that is complicated, but also pretty evil and easy for someone like me to hate. It can have some minor issues running on a modern system, but other than that, if you haven't tried this yet, and you liked the same sorts of 90s combat vehicle simulators that I did, you'll love this.
