A creature tamer game much like Pokemon which, unlike Pokemon, was built from the ground up with cooperative play in mind. You can play the entire campaign in 2 player cooperative and both characters are represented fully throughout. Another thing to keep in mind is this game is much more difficult than legacy Pokemon games. You will regularly run into enemies at or above your level if you do not grind. A lot of RNG elements such as miss chance and criticals are removed, highlighting a dependence on strategy above all else. This game is also fully developed, and while I cannot speak for the previous life it lived hosting microtransactions, I'm happy to report that all of that is removed and all previously paid elements, such as cosmetics, can be earned simply by playing. I very much recommend playing this for the Pokemon die-hard fans - it's miles above Pokemon, in my mind.
A buddy of mine made me co-op this game with him for a week. We don't talk anymore.
I just wish they didnt give up on it :(
Banned for playing on linux do not bother if you want to play on steamdeck.
Couldn't even start the game because every name I tried to give my character was already in use. Didn't even went special or anything just plain names like Dave or John. Game won't let you continue until you picked a name that hasn't been used yet by ANY of the many players. I'ts a name, something that's supposed to be simple yet it's been made difficult and a obstacle in this game. Be warned for this if you are thinking of buying this game.
Do people like this? So this costs 44,99 and it has a PREMIUM BATTLE PASS. I think the characters look super basic and not very good. The areas I have seen so far are SO boring, like Gen 1 Pokemon route boring. To be fair I haven't seen much yet but shouldn't your game START with something cool? ANYTHING that looks nice and makes you go "Oh wow I want to explore?" Temtem does not even try. The creature designs... are so bland. And uninteresting. Yeah some of them are cute but a lot of them look super boring and I assume it's because making 3D models is hard. I haven't seen a single Temtem yet that made me go "Wow I want to CATCH that and have it on my team!!" There are plenty of creature collecting games and all of them have more interesting creatures. I think in fact these are the blandest and worst designed creatures of any creature collecting game I have ever played. Seriously Neopet Petpets are far more interesting than anything I have encountered so far. Battles are boring, why do my creatures DIE if they use up their stamina but had HP left? I think it should knock them out for that battle and be avaiable after again. Also if I use a potion and it does not attack that round it should ALSO recover some stamina. Super stupid. Also is it just me or is the balancing weird? Like I have a bunch of guys between level 12-19 and if other tamers have Temtems of level 8 or 9 they can and often WILL take out half of my team with just 2 or 3 Temtems. Is that normal? And no it's not because of type advantage I checked. I have been to three cities and none of them had anything interesting, no interesting characters and mostly the same Temtem for all of the areas with very slight variation. All of the optional quests I have seen so far where "Go there and talk to X" and "Can you bring me this Temtem to look at?" and WORST OF ALL "Here's a quest about Temtem yes we expect you to know stuff about these creatures you haven't seen yet and it's not like this is a franchise with creatures you already know so have fun trying every option until you get it right WOW here's a potion for your effort". Do you want people do be bored? Character dialoge is not good. Nothing interesting and lots of miserable tries to say something funny. This includes information on your attacks. They will have "fun" jokes and or puns in there. Just tell me what my attacks do without weird flavor text? Also, there's a reason why a ton of games do not do random encounters anymore: because they aren't fun. If you want a creature collecting game that is not Pokemon go and get something else. The price tag on this extremly undercooked game is crazy.
Maybe I'd feel different if I got a little further into the game, but I was hoping for an experience that had more of its own identity and wasn't just "we have pokemon at home". That's exactly what this is, from the clunky grid-like movement, to the names of shop items, to the utter lack of soul in the NPC design and dialogue. I'm also not a fan of in-app purchases on a game I already paid for, but then this is my first purchase on steam that qualifies as an mmo so I don't know if that's normal. I will give some credit: the designs of the temtem I've seen so far are charming, and aren't just obvious mashups of pokemon designs, which I have seen in the art of other games like this one. There are temtem that might *remind* me of certain pokemon, but not to the point that they look like ripoffs. I also really like the tweaks to combat, and the streamlined feel those changes bring without over-simplifying battle. In particular, the stamina system, and the delay before certain moves can be used, are really nice balancing factors that make the turn-based combat feel smooth and natural while adding some needed challenge. But I'm not here for just combat, and I'm not willing to cringe through everything else for the sake of the combat. I'm sorry to say that there are roblox creature collectors i would rather play than this.
The game is almost permanently saying the servers are unreachable, I've tried to play this game nearly ten times this week, with only two of those attempts allowing me in. After looking further into this, many others have the same problem and have not found solutions, as well as reporting they've run into many unhelpful or outright malicious developers who don't care to help.
