A group of explorers arrive at the origin planet of a piece of alien technology which having crashed on Earth, fast-tracked human kind’s technological advancement and unlocked faster than light travel. With no means of returning to Earth unless similar tech is discovered, the explorers seek out the ancient civilization which called them to the planet and activate a dormant, floating fortress which becomes their base, from which they conduct missions, gather information, technology, and fend off attacks by hostile alien factions. You manage the Citadel itself, build or activate new facilities, assign personnel, conduct research, manufacture equipment and equip your squads from this flying base. You have the world map, showing locations of interest within range of your landing craft, what the threat percentage - which is the difficultly indicator and can launch missions. After landing battles are quick, you can orbit around, zoom and move the camera. For some fans of the RTS genre, this might be a huge turn-off since you’re not actually controlling the units in battle. Tempest Citadel is a story-driven Sci-Fi title with plenty of game mechanics in spite of being hands-off with combat, add nice visuals and you have an enjoyable game.
Helped with some of the game from Valued input during the Beta. (Name in Credits) The game has changed a bit since I played in Beta, On Release the title has that whole Star Gate Atlantis Feeling to it. You still have to manage your resources and your Teams in this game, but its been easily configured to allow you to let it play on auto with as little management as needed. You can sit back and watch everything work out and enjoy a good read in the story progression that is to be had. I still haven't completed the story line but Rest Assured, this title does provide some nifty music and plenty of Dialogue to read.

Strap in ya big, shiny, boy tiddAys cuz they's goin' for a jubble!
If you enjoyed X-Com and are okay with trading turn based tactics for a top down real time combat system, this might be something to check out. If you also wish that X-Com had a bit more story elements and background lore to the missions and quests you started, than this is something you should check out. I'm someone who loves world building and has no problem with reading large sections of text so I've thrived reading through mission details and other story elements the game puts together. And i have a lot of respect for this game as it also lets me decide when I want to read most of it. I can go and complete a few levels, then come back and read all the extra information or just completely ignore it all together. It took a bit of time to get used to the real time combat. I came into this game expecting a more hands on experience with the combat. But after some time playing, I found I really liked this approach to combat. I really enjoy getting immersed in the games I play and letting the squads take on combat on their own really felt like I was the commander giving out orders and tasks for my teams to complete. But there were also a few times it was a little frustrating watching them make decisions I wasn't happy with xD
