All right, if you are a retro player like me, you might remember Warlords, we are talking way back.. This game is in the same genre, but with a lot more options, more factions, you can build bigger armies, upgrade your castles and much more... At this time I have "only" been playing the game for about 4 hours, but man, I got my behind kicked.. but in a cool way. if you are into turn based strategy games, where there is hours of game play, then give this game here at try...
Telestians is a turn-based strategy game, which you could call 'old school'. Clearly inspired by the much-loved Warlords saga, it brings a breath of fresh air to the indie strategy game scene. And yes, you read that right, even though it's based on an old video game series, you won't find games of this style on Steam today. So what makes it special? Telestians is a simple game, easy to learn, with simple mechanics, no frills. This seems like a negative point, but it is not at all, as it is a game that you can play without having to rack your brains at every turn and every move: Explore, equip your hero with what you find in the adventure locations, and conquer or raze the enemy castles to the ground. This simple formula works like a charm, as the gameplay without the need for fireworks is a pure delight in terms of fun. With a graphical look that personally appeals to me, a soundtrack that perfectly accompanies the action, it's a game that invites you to play one more turn. As a negative point, the UI, to my personal taste, and I repeat this is a personal opinion, has the game panels, buttons and texts a bit small. I haven't found any option that allows me to change this. With the randomness of the maps and the amount of races to play, it makes it a very replayable game. I definitely recommend this game.

Warlords II clone. They did a good job with this.
Es un clon de Warlords y me gusta, tiene un tono más al estilo espada y brujería como Conan lo que le da un plus.

Ever read the reviews for a game and you think to yourself, 'Did they play the same game I did?' That's how I feel about Telestians. The game was shallow and simple and lacking in strategic depth. If it created a mood, that mood was boredom. Although tagged as turn based, the game is "turn based" only in the sense that you have to hit an "end of turn" button after you move all your units. Battles are automatic. Bump into an enemy and the armies go at it until one of you is dead. Auto-battlers aren't fun for me, but if the kingdom and fortress management is engaging then it's not a deal breaker. As far as I could tell in the time played - which in fairness to the game, was short - there wasn't any kingdom management or tactical depth at all. Bump into a fortress and auto battle it, if you win, you choose whether to raze it or capture it. If you capture it, you can conscript more units to bump into more fortresses. Maybe if I played longer the game would have revealed itself to be wonderfully tactical and strategic, but I don't think so. Proceed at your own peril. Purchase this game, play it. Hear the lamentations of gamers.
Nice artwok but i wish it had a bit more mechanical complexity. Although the simplicity is probably part of the appeal.
Very nice retro style strategy. I can't wait for new content to be added.
