i feel a rare sense of peace when playing
Cubism, developed by Thomas Van Bouwel and published by Vanbo LLC and Creature Label, is a virtual reality puzzle game that blends minimalist design with thoughtful gameplay to create a relaxing yet intellectually engaging experience. From the moment players step into its serene environment, the game encourages a meditative focus, inviting them to interact directly with three-dimensional shapes and immerse themselves in spatial problem-solving. What initially appears to be a simple puzzle game gradually reveals a surprising depth, challenging players to think critically while maintaining a sense of calm. The gameplay revolves around fitting various geometric pieces into corresponding wireframe structures. While the concept is straightforward, the puzzles increase in complexity as the game progresses, requiring players to manipulate shapes in multiple dimensions and consider rotations and spatial relationships carefully. This gradual escalation in difficulty strikes a balance between accessibility for newcomers and a satisfying challenge for more experienced puzzle enthusiasts. Success in Cubism relies not just on dexterity but also on patience and careful observation, making the problem-solving process both engaging and rewarding. A key element of the game’s appeal is its intuitive VR controls. Using hand tracking, players can pick up, rotate, and position each piece naturally, simulating the tactile satisfaction of physically manipulating objects. The precision of the controls ensures that interactions feel smooth and responsive, while the direct engagement with the puzzles enhances immersion. This hands-on approach distinguishes Cubism from traditional puzzle games, as it emphasizes both spatial reasoning and the sense of physically interacting with the environment. Visually, Cubism embraces minimalism, with clean lines, subtle color palettes, and understated animations that direct attention to the puzzles themselves. The environments are free of distractions, allowing players to focus on the shapes and their relationships within the wireframe structures. This simplicity not only reinforces clarity in puzzle-solving but also contributes to the game’s meditative quality, creating a calming experience that complements the mental challenge. The audio design further enhances the atmosphere, with a soothing soundtrack that underscores the contemplative tone of the game. Each piece emits a subtle sound when placed, and completing a puzzle produces a harmonious chord, giving players an auditory sense of accomplishment. This integration of sound and gameplay deepens engagement, making the act of solving puzzles feel rewarding on both a cognitive and sensory level. Since its release, Cubism has continued to expand through updates, including new puzzle volumes and enhanced hand tracking support, keeping the experience fresh for returning players. The developer’s ongoing attention to feedback and quality demonstrates a commitment to creating a polished and enjoyable VR experience. This continuous evolution ensures that the game remains compelling for both newcomers and seasoned players, offering new challenges without sacrificing its core appeal. Overall, Cubism is an exceptional VR puzzle game that combines thoughtful design, intuitive interaction, and a calming aesthetic to create a uniquely satisfying experience. Its blend of spatial reasoning challenges, immersive hand-tracking mechanics, and meditative atmosphere makes it ideal for players seeking a relaxing yet mentally stimulating adventure. The game stands out not only for its elegant simplicity but also for the depth and enjoyment it provides, offering a rewarding journey into the art of puzzle-solving in virtual reality. Rating: 9/10
I've purchased this game 4 times once on quest, once on steam and then gifts for others. I want to start a religion for cubism. TL:DR buy it, prey to Thomas when you get stuck, take a break and return. you've spent £8 on less i'm pretty sure
I like the puzzles and have now completed season 2. Progression is at a good pace and harder puzzle can be both because of wierdly shaped pieces and the amout of pieces you need to fit.
The most positive gaming experience I've had in a long time, a game that gives you time to think without hints shoved in your face. amazing
Szuper jó logikai, ülve játszós pihentető kis csoda :3 Nagyon szeretem, és rendes nehéz
