Paper Cult's most ambitious and best release yet. Bloodroots was already something special, but Tears of Metal proves this studio has serious range. Honestly a Scottish musou-roguelike shouldn't work this well, and yet here we are. What's wild is how much potential is still sitting on the table because the difficulty and reactivity in fights actually takes timing and skill. Combat feels great, the art rips, and it's still in early access.. Easy recommend, cannot wait to see where they take it 🤘
It's a roguelike where you have an army that travels with you as you wield a sword and hack down enemy armies and captains. You can gain command points, special abilities, trinkets which add capabilities that stack with your army. It reminds me of a revamped game like "Dragon Force" for the Sega Saturn, but with mechanics that make way more sense to that style of game. It's a great game, but a slow burn if you aren't used to this type of game. You'll spend the first few hours getting used to making effective use of abilities and learning what stacks well. Some of the trinkets you pick up are relatively meh, and others are overpowered when stacked. One stack allows you to throw a bomb every time you kill 5 enemies, but there's another ability that allows you to double explosive damage each time an explosive is used. So you can attack 5 enemies and just spam bombs across the battlefield while your army backs you up with their abilities. That's the real 'skill' of the game. Avoiding attacks, attacking back and leveraging your capabilities in a way that lets you beat enemies which should be very overpowered. Early on you'll lose...often, later on once you've mastered the mechanics you'll smash your way through overpowered armies backed up by whole battalions of troops shooting enemies. and attacking fairly effectively at a high level. Lots of fun.
games all around well made and developed its just fun even if u fail no reason to get mad games dope love to see what content they add skins weapons etc i enjoy it and its not overpriced
Incroyablement bien foutu, des vibes de Risk of Rain 2, très peu de bugs (même pour une EA), un sound design de qualité, vraiment fun en coop !
Good game. Hack and slash done well with a lot of progression and more to come. Needs a few small balancing things imo but I could also just be feeling like that because im trash at parrying. Some of the build combos feel terrible and others feel super OP and you get stuck to certain builds. Hopefully more variety coming and would love to see alternating bosses at each tier because it gets boring fighting the same ones over and over. Would def recommend on a sale or if you and a friend plan on hopping on together.
BLUF: Grab this one! Super fun and re-playable. A friend of mine recommended this game because I love me a hack and slash and especially in this type of battlefield setting. There is a really great balance here of realistic and supernatural throughout the setting, the story, and the characters themselves. I really want to commend the developers here. I can't wait to see what is next! With a roadmap this solid and a game this gorgeous and fun you literally can't go wrong.
this game is good, the combat is very satisfying and the combows are simple but fun to execute, they all have their niche and when to use them what ive noticed is combat really becomes about beating the captains before anything else, but you can still have some fun tearing through the fodder What i will say is that even though i really like this game. if you want alot of variety and choice between runs id hold off for a while, the emblems in game which act like boons from hades are capped at level 2, the game makes it so you have to level companions to get higher tier emblems for each clan. but right now the game only has 2 companions. this is the one thing that limits the variety of getting cool and strong upgrades in runs. which clearly wont be an issue once more companions are added The game is still fun even with maps being a repeat across runs but yeah. if the issue of companions limiting emblem levels turns you off id recommend waiting till full release or just waiting till a few more companions are added
Honestly, if you don't play this game, you're gay.
