About

Task Force Admiral Vol.1: American Carrier Battles is a single-player experience centered on the command of an early Pacific War US Navy carrier task force. As the overall commander, you are in charge of seeking the destruction of the enemy naval forces and preventing your opponent, the Japanese Navy, from accomplishing its objectives. To achieve your aims, you have at your disposal the most fearsome sea projection weapon known to Man in 1942: your carrier air groups and the task forces that support them.
As a carrier task force admiral in this pioneering age of air/naval warfare, assume the mantle of retribution in this innovative interpretation of a classic topic, as the first title in a new series that will further explore and develop the genre. Forget about the limitations of the past, and let the best of wargaming and simulation blend and blossom together in this new take on command at sea! Re-live the great battles of the first year of the Pacific War as if you were there yourself. In here there is no dice roll, no artificial skill-tree, no arbitrary stats, selective fog of war or supernatural crystal-clear communications. It is real-time crisis management for you, realism and historicity without concession, as little abstraction as can be, and loads of action, suspense and refreshing gameplay packed in the same single computer software.

great game but few things that annoy me is clear decks for landing or fighters to deck you cant cancel it if you change ur mind and when doing a scramble i thought would see everyone rushing to get airbourne but nup so i think theres alot of polishing to do
屌毛,我中文呢??啥时候出?有中文了给好评。
Game has a ways to go but if you are a fan of WW2 and want a good feel for Carrier battles of the time you should buy this and support its development. Not sure if it is intentional but if you fail a mission the art looks like the main character from Airplane lol.
MicroProse has produced a little gem here. I remember their great titles from back in the 80s (e.g. F-15 Strike Eagle II, Silent Service II, Red Storm Rising (what a GREAT gem that was!), and B-17 Flying Fortress). Frankly, I get Silent Hunter and Silent Service (and their many sequels) confused. Lately, I've had the opportunity (in my free time - yeah, right!) to sample recent titles such as Sea Power, Cold Waters, and the lighter Crash Dive (yeah, I know...but I don't have time for a full-sized Naval crusade while waiting for my flight in the airport!). Anyway, so I've played a few naval warfare games in my (brief?) lifetime. This little title, TF Admiral, has some great potential. It is a neat strategy game that makes you think up front. Screw up at the beginning and you will pay later! The UI is a little bit....awkward?....at the moment and the lack of a tutorial is really holding this one back a little. I printed off the "manual" (yes, us youth challenged folk (no, I'm not a Boomer!) still have printers!) and applied the concepts listed there to the other scenarios for my first run at a skirmish. The remaining learning curve was mere trial/error. The AI is stout, but some things need some tweaking. For instance, I lost one of my two carriers early on to Vals and Kates (bastards!) ...it was the Enterprise too, sorry Kirk... and at the end of that skirmish, I lost my Lady Lex because three dips... Buffalos decided to return to the carrier...well she turned into the wind for recovery and right into range of a ♥♥♥ strike force looking for her. I couldn't find a way to just let the Buffalos ditch/die. As an Admiral, tough choices need to be made - I would rather have saved my carrier, which died a quick death thereafter, then recover three obsolete fighters that amount to drone practice in the face of Zeros. Perhaps, HAD A MANUAL/TUTORIAL been available, I could've saved my Lady! Devs, you need to fix this...make a decent manual (in reality, some of us still do READ!) and/or allow for an override of the standard carrier ops when necessary. TF Admiral is shaping up to be a nice gem of a WWII naval strategy game. I would recommend it even at full price.
It feels like enough of a simulation to me that I can give ahistorical-but-plausible tactics a try to see whether they work in-game, which is the highest praise I can give a historical military simulation game. That, and seeing those lovely red-painted dive brakes pop open on fifteen SBDs with Shokaku visible down beneath them does provide the dopamine.
Really fun game but I suggest you wait until it's on sale to buy it. There are several bugs and fixes that are needed, but really well rounded game overall.
