Tapeworm Disco Puzzle

I love Tapeworm Disco Puzzle! Played it all in a couple of sittings because I couldn't put it down. The characters are adorable and the puzzles are the right amount of challenging. I got stuck on a few but it felt very satisfying to eventually solve them. I love that the game will introduce a mechanic and then spend a few levels exploring it from many angles. The music is bangin' and this game is just an all round good time. Can recommend!

A fun retro style puzzle game. If you're looking for a puzzle to pass some time, this is very enjoyable.

(I took the game's ROM from the game's root directory and play it through a separate emulator, but did beat it. Took ~2 hours.) A rather fun puzzle game created for the NES. It's perhaps a bit easier than NES games, such as Adventures of Lolo or Clu-Clu Land would have been, but the developers back then didn't want a game to be over too quickly. The hundred puzzles here are well done, with several different mechanics and goals that increase through the game. A few gave me a bit of a pause, but overall, none were too difficult to figure out. Good graphics, good music, this is one of the better "homebrew" NES games on the platform. If you love puzzles games, or the NES, give this one a look.

I've played this game much more off Steam than on. This is a fantastic puzzle game. The music is great. The gameplay is great. And it is an NES game! If you love puzzle games, I highly recommend it.

I have only just started playing this and I am already enjoying it and the puzzles. It did take me a minute to figure out H was start (you can rebind it though) so it's not an issue. A cute little puzzle game with some really nice stylistic graphics and awesome chip tunes.

Nice design and good music. The levels and game mechanics are also nice. But... Controls are confusing, what does A, B, Start mean in the game? No clue? At least you can re-configure them even if you know know what A or B does. Apparently it's "Accept" and "Cancel" / "Back"? But leves start with A, not with Start? Feels like a port for players who played the game on another platform? I was expecting a relaxing puzzle game, where you have to move slow and have to think. It started that way, but after getting through some levels, it starts to require precise timing and reflexes. That wouldn't be a problem, but controls are just off and there's no room for error, so I just keep dying on the spikes. It's not fun. I have completed Meat Boy, VVVVVV, Hollow Knight, and numerous other games that require reflexes and dexterity, but it worked because the controls were responsive and react the way you'd expect. I can't explain what is exactly the problem with this game, but it feels like it's missing something. Maybe it's the grid based movement as you are sitting still in one tile for some time and in the next frame you are in the next tile and you have a very small time window to react to change direction. In other games like pacman the movement is continuous and you can press the key to change direction before you reach the "crossroads" and the game will turn at the right moment. In the levels where you control the worm yourself fully, the game is great. But once it starts to move forward on its own and you have to steer, it stopped being fun and became a frustration. Not my cup of tea.
