In Tank Wars: Anniversary Edition, a player has to control a (stationary) artillery tank in order to take down opponents with ballistic shots from a selection of different weapons. We paired old school, pixelated, low-resolution 2D graphics with some modern-ish concepts and effects.
«Tank Wars: Anniversary Edition»
I've loved this game since I was a little girl and used to play it with my brothers on MSDOS, loved it again since I got it for a windows 7 MSDOS program to play it, countless laughs and yells, due to the random deaths and ways to die, many good memories came again. But this anniversary version lacks all the elements that made TW an awesome game back in the day, like the menu simple as it was, doesnt let you see what mode are the walls/roof, nobody dies in random ways + their sounds when dying (this is kennet morse 3.0 version), you just explode like a ''meh'' tank, the cashing sound is beyond annoying, can't customize/change the background when you cant see anything. The interface inside a match is ok, just the menu needs to improve. If the game keeps updating to bring all the good old elements back (gosh im really old ) could be an awesome game again. I wouldnt recommend it to play unless you REALLY liked the game before, but be aware that you might get a little dissapointed.
It's pretty similar to the Tanks Wars 3.0 game from the 80's. At least, surface-level. The graphics are nicer for the most part, the sound is certainly better, or at least more advanced. The UI is also probably better. But it's missing some weapons from the old game. There are also missing wall types (de-cel at least) as well as no top wall option. I can't find a way to, in multiplayer at least, set a cap on the number of games played, and get an end screen after. But in general it's still fun! Turn aim, fire at other tanks, fight your friends, play with weird, silly weapons, etc.
Nostalgia. a really cool modern version of the original. hopefully it wont be abandoned and will get regular updates and content. has much potential. Still miss the original scorched earth.
A solid remake of my childhood classic that I knew as bomb.exe Yes, 75% of this is nostalgia factor, but it's also a genuinely good remake of a game concept that's still a lot of fun. It doesn't have all the same weapons that you're expecting, and the graphics look a little different, but the main mechanics and certainly the spirit are the same. I'm hoping for updates and improvements going forward, but for me at least it's quite stable. The only (slight) negative for me is is that the multiplayer is a bit ... laggy? My turret moves more slowly than the person I connected with which broke the realtime mode. Also, I see some tanks falling through terrain, disappearing bullets, all seemingly related to the way it's connecting for multiplayer. Is it worth $8. Yeah, it's probably worth twice as much if you enjoyed this in your childhood. If it's a brand new game to you, wait for a sale. But again, if you're like me and play hours of tank wars growing up picking this up is a no brainer.
Returning since it crashes every time I try to play a saved game. The money sound when a tank is killed ruins the game.
Love it. Brings me back.
