Tales of the Shire: A The Lord of The Rings™ Game

I love this game, it is really cosy and relaxing, which is just what I was after when buying it. I am just a little bit sad that the story is so short, and that there's not enough options when it comes to the customization of my character. (I would appreciate more hairstyles, accessories, and also clothing items. I would also love if there were items that would help me create a more quirky hobbit with a disctinct personality – such as the other hobbits of Bywater.) It would also be nice if there were more interactions with the other characters and the surroundings. (I would love to interact with the furniture in my hobbit hole, for example. It would also be great to be able to visit the homes of the other hobbits.) To sum up, overall I really like this game and I would recommend it to everyone who likes cosy roleplay and loves Tolkien's Middle-earth.

I believe a good bit of this "hate" for this game is either because they enjoyed the grittiness of LotR and were unhappy with a fluffy game, they do not like this type of game, or issues with the graphics. If you enjoy these types of games, then you will enjoy this. It is the embodiment of coziness and hobbit-ness. That being said, the game clearly is badly optimized. Even with low graphics, it struggles to keep up if you skip (the games version of running).

Je le recommande sans être totalement emballée par le jeu. Il est agréable, mignon et sympathique. Mais contrairement aux jeux du même genre, ce jeu manque cruellement de game play et de contenu. Pour le contenu : - manque de mini map, qui peut être un vrai désavantage dans les débuts du jeu, devoir aller constamment sur la carte pour vérifier son chemin est d'un ennui - manque de contenu pour personnaliser son personnage, on aurait pu avoir un hobbit parfaitement personnalisé, quelqu'un qui nous ressemble ou non, mais il manque beaucoup de choses Pour le game play : - on ne peut pas sauter, ce qui nous ralentit énormément car il y a beaucoup de monticule, le terrain n'est pas plat - beaucoup de PNJ sont juste là pour être ... des pnj inintéressants. Impossibilité de leur parler, ils sont juste là, à ne rien faire - les indications de quête ne sont pas claires, pour un jeu chill c'est un peu un comble de devoir chercher partout pour en comprendre le sens Pour le côté positif, ce jeu reflète bien la vie des hobbits, ferme, pêche, cueillette, décoration cosy, cuisine ... Pour un adepte de Tolkien, cela peut être un bon jeu reposant. J'espère sincèrement qu'il y aura des MAJ de contenue, le jeu a du potentiel qui ne devrait pas être gâché

I enjoy cozy games that have several diffrent tasks at a time you can work on. Im enjoying the game. Im not bored but im not getting frustrated.

There is only one thing that makes me vehemently not recommend this game and that is its performance. I have a 9800x3d now and can brute force it(to an astonishing 60-90fps on a 240hz oled 4k monitor, how wonderful!), but there is legitimate testing-proven information out there to suggest this game runs entirely on ONE CPU thread. ONE. For everything. Graphics, npc locations, gameplay elements, calculations, everything. GPU? Hardly matters, it's napping on the sidelines. Your other threads? Also napping. This was a private party and only one thread was invited. Thus, it runs like garbage. If you're okay running around at 20-45-50 tops fps on larger resolutions, or around what I get on smaller resolutions with different hardware, that's on you but you're also part of the problem. I've verbatim called this issue out multiple times on their update threads on Steam, even mentioning the specific study I found and its results, and never once have I gotten a reply. It's a cute game, and I could deal with its shallowness and simplicity because that's actually a good 'break' style of game sometimes, but I cannot abide such optimization egregiousness nor can I stay silent when the devs themselves remain silent and refuse to even acknowledge performance is a big issue with this game. If you like or are used to choppy games, and like it though, go right ahead. Who am I to yuck your yum?
