Tales of the Shire: A The Lord of The Rings™ Game

Slow but pretty relaxing.

A cosy, soothing game which captures the Shire quite well. You cook, forage and fish your way through the tales, sell and trade what you gather and make in exchange for ingredients or items like clothes, furniture and decoration. You get your own hobbithole to decorate and cook in. You meet and befriend the other residents of your new home, Bywater, and help them with their various quests. Mainly, you cook a lot of food - the cooking system takes some getting used to - and serve it to them at home or elsewhere.

This game could have great, but there is so much I don't like about it. First of all the overall mood of the game is off - doesn't feel like I'm playing as a hobbit from Tolkiens Middle-Earth but rather silly little bumbling smurf-like characters. I did enjoy the making meals for NPCs element to the game but even after 5 hours of gameplay it got very repetitive and boring. I enjoy cosy games and have played all the greats - this game could be brilliant if it could lean into what makes them so great. it's almost a Mobile game in that it is cosy-lite. Until it gets a lot more updates with deeper mechanics, I don't see myself jumping back into it.

Inoffensive but bland, you may be better off trying a different game.

As long as you're channeling your inner Hobbit, you'll love this game!

Super süßes Hobbit Spiel. Man fühlt sich wie nach Mittelerde hineinversetzt. Ich liebe alles daran, das sammeln von Kräutern und Pilzen, das Kochen der Mahlzeiten sowie die Story! Gandalf ist sogar auch Teil der Story.

While this game can be a bit samey and I wish the story was a bit longer, I have found the game incredibly adictive and charming. I love being able to be a Hobbit and just focus my days around cooking delicious meals and the genuinely love the characters, especially Nefi and Ladle.
