Tales from Candleforth

Cela m'embête de mettre une mauvaise note, car j'ai apprécié le jeu. J'aurais aimé mettre une note plus nuancée, mais c'est le seul moyen d'interpeller potentiellement les développeurs, s'ils envisagent de faire un autre jeu du genre, ou même une suite (je ne serais pas contre). Le jeu est beaucoup trop court. A peine on y prend gout que c'est déjà la fin. Les énigmes sont pas mal, certaines très faciles, mais d'autres demandent plus de réflexions, sans que ce soit infaisable. L'ambiance du jeu, l'esthétique, sont deux choses que j'ai beaucoup aimé. La musique est chouette, par contre les sons à la place des voix sont assez insupportables, et j'aurais préféré des doublages. La fin est ce qui m'a le plus déçue, elle est trop abrupte, et on apprend pas grand chose sur l'univers développé dans le jeu. Dommage.

I bought Tales from Candleforth after playing and enjoying the free, very short game Wood & Flesh which has the same Candleforth setting, style and ambience. This game is a longer 2D point & click puzzle adventure in a number of linked chapters, the first of which also serves as a tutorial; my play time represents a longer first playthrough and a second quicker one to get achievements I missed or failed the first time (the game allows individual chapter to be replayed, but I preferred to replay the whole game). I enjoyed the game's macabre art and story, which are in the folk horror tradition, and reminded me of the Creepy Tale and Forgotten Hill games. I felt that the puzzles are varied in style and complexity, but not tedious or frustrating, and although the game does not provide explicit hints, clues to puzzles' mechanics and outcomes are nearly always to be found nearby - though there was one puzzle ([spoiler]hanging dolls[/spoiler]in which I am still not sure why my two alternative solutions were not the required one; I suspect that I missed some visual reference. There were a few English translation errors but nothing confusing or atmosphere-breaking, and the game ends in a way which suggests that a follow up game (or DLC) may appear one day, which I would welcome. I bought the game at a 50% discounted price and I have no doubts about its value for money, though the full price may be a little too high for a single playthrough.

Great Game! Sometime it's a little bit hard but I really enjoy/love challanges so it's very well made!! Fun to play and great graphic!!

Rural countryside scenery with a touch of the macabre, complete with imaginative puzzles that were sometimes a bit too clever for me to solve without using walkthroughs; nonetheless, I was drawn into and enjoyed this fairy tale of a young girl trying to find and free her imprisoned Grandmother.

A very fun but short point and click game! It's very spooky and none of the puzzles were very difficult. If you have any experience with these types of puzzle games you'll breeze right through. Having said that, I think I'd personally buy it on sale as the average playtime seems to be only 2-3 hours.

Die Atmosphäre ist leicht drückend und spannend. Die Musik, keineswegs nervig oder aufdringlich und passt super hinein ohne einen beim denken zu stören. Die Rätsel sind teilweise etwas anspruchsvoll, sodass man ein bisschen überlegen muss um weiter zu kommen. Ich kann dieses Game für alle empfehlen, die mal wieder beim zocken ein bisschen denken und nicht nur stumpf kombinieren wollen. Ich mag es sehr gerne. <3
