Reviews
Excellent dark-fantasy rpg. 9/10.
Good game 7.5/10 Voice acting is top notch, however in-game unanimated emotionless NPC flush this beaty down. Grey morale, absence of black and white intertwined in overall solid story is one of the best aspects of the game. Music is very good overall and partially memorable. Game is lengthy and has plenty of content. Personally game is too easy to me (build: melee, pure physical damage, double shields) even on veteran difficulty. Personally I wish more challenges and different arenas with increasingly difficult bosses that required at least some adaptation. My boss fights after first 30 hours turns to: ultimate + 3-7 heavy double shield strikes. That is it. I do not even know what bosses are even closely potentially available of, or what their attacks is. Just bam-bam-bam. This is cool at first, but become boring quickly. I got so sated with gameplay (I did every quest and get best ending) so I even was unwilling to start DLC. Houses and room interior variety are very poorly implemented and repetitive: shelfs with same objects, wardrobes with chest on the right side and so on. Dungeons and caves on contrary are rather good to awesome. I still think developers did tremendous amount of work, but are judged in proportion to the amount they attempted. I think game industry need now a techological jump for: world and NPC liveness. This world and its inhabitant looks plastic and dead. There is some beauty in this simplicity still, but overall I think best parts of the game suffer from this.

I've been looking for a Skyrim-like game for ages after playing it 5+ times, and couldn't find anything that quite matched the style of game I was looking for. Then enter Tainted Grail. Amazing worldbuilding, graphics/animations, voice acting, the whole works. I was hooked from the first five minutes. I only wish there was an option to chop wood which, as I learned very early on, is even harder to get than gold. And though it may sound like a request from a spoiled Bethesda gamer, it would definitely be nice to have the console command option available in case of dire issues like broken quests or NPCs. None of that is going to stop me from playing the game, though. This is a labor of love and perfect homage to the grimdark fantasy genre.
