this is like xcom but without hit probability, and there are wizards with powers. the story is immensely ambitious, and it just barely sticks the landing. tom francis has to juggle an international conflict, self-aware humor, sorkin-esque serial drama dialogue, and even dream levels where the player character confronts their alternative selves. the only issue might just be the way the game was made. the middle act is really long and feels unnecessary, but instead of balancing the tedium out by removing some of the levels, the devs decided to keep the levels but just make the characters really bored of the missions. this solves that issue, but it keeps time. i feel like a lot of the issues of this game were ironed out by the devs adding more content rather taking away bad content. the result is honestly not even a downside, i'm just noting it here because that's how i feel coming out of it.
This game is fantastic.

One of the best games of all time, essentially a zachtronics-like tactics game where solutions involve comboing your characters and positioning with guaranteed attacks rather than complicated percentage-based chances to hit rather than anything else. Don't come into it expecting XCOM, expect it to be a way better tactics game than that.
关卡和机制都很出色,每回合都能无限悔棋,也大幅降低了试错成本。比起战旗,玩起来更像解谜游戏。在挑战目标的限制下,寻找一次性通关的方法,是这个游戏最大的乐趣。
I really enjoyed my time with this game! I expected to hate the quippy writing, but it strikes a good balance between lighthearted fun and a serious, more character driven core. The puzzles are really good, always offering a satisfying extra challenge for those who want it. Also, there's a black cat lounging about in every debriefing scene.
Genuinely one of the best games I've played in a while. The Art, the writing, the gameplay, all clearly made with love. Highly recommend giving this one a try
The writing is perfect : the dry humor, the story, the punchlines, each character, and their interaction are top notch. The gameplay is really good and still offers a ton of freedom in tactical choice, each valid, proposing fun combo and tactics, varying the synergy each character has with another. The soundtracks are well worked and pull you into the game atmosphere. It's an insanely good game, well deserving of its overwhelmingly positive rating.
Extremely fun puzzle gameplay with a charming host of characters. I find myself playing it the same way I play RTS games - completely unwilling to let my little guys take a hit if I can help it in any way. It's fun to rewind and try new tactics until you manage to puzzle out some "perfect" solution that results in achieving all your goals without any concessions. Highly recommend for people who like turn-based games.
good game.
I don't think I laughed so much from a game since Psychonauts.
