Game feels more like a beta than a finished product. Lot of UI issues, like crashing when you alt-tab, crashing when you press play, and periods after a transition where clicking buttons does nothing. It has options that do nothing and options with toggles that can't be changed from ON to OFF. All of that could have been mostly forgiven if it wasn't on top of two points. First, shooting any enemy produces a cloud of note shaped debris that can completely conceal bullets coming from that same enemy, leading to very frustrating deaths. Second, for no apparent reason, the game reduces your music library's volume by half or more, even with all volume at max for the music and SFX disabled. This causes moments where you've turned up your speakers to hear it, then the antagonist appears and blows your eardrums out with some painfully cliche speech.
A surprisingly addictive and polished experience with high replayability. It's a fun spin on the arcade shooter with some nice Audiosurf like elements. I found it to be a great time waster if you like to zone out to your own music collection and was quickly hooked. Filtering large music collections is pretty basic and could be better but I don't have any other complaints. 8/10.
This game feels like it was designed by a person who doesn't know what makes rhythm OR shoot 'em up games great. It just feels like a music you choose is just playing along while you play some boring shoot 'em up. The user experience is simply awful in every menu. Song levels procedurally generated by the game is randomized and not deterministic at all. Same exact files with simply different song name result two different levels. Enemy patterns are completely randomized which results some levels to not be beatable without dying. Gameplay relies luck too much. Weapon balances feel incredibly untested and unbalanced. Occasionally, some random boss interrupts the player and starts on a monologue in the middle of playing a music, and it has one of the most cringe dialogues I've ever heard. Achievements were also incredibly annoying and grindy.
It's like playing Space Invaders with your own music in the background. Cool stuff!
I had to download another program to make it work, since it's so old, but that was quick and easy. Symphony is a relaxing rhythm game. It's simple, but it's fun and i'm enjoying unlocking different weapons and power ups.
A rhythm game that combines Clone Hero with Geometry Wars. A weird digital demon has stolen the souls of all the worlds best composers and you have to shoot down enemies to the rhythm of the song that you pick. As long as it's an MP3 file, (and over 1 minute and 30 seconds long) you can play it in this game. I've defeated digital demons to the dulcet tunes of Weird Al, SiIvaGunner and various Friday Night Funkin songs. Seriously, this game is only as good as your musical tastes.
