for people that have not already played botworld adventure (the mobile version): the game's good. it's got fun bots and abilities, a solid open world, deep buildcrafting and engaging endgame. I'd say it's worth the price. for people who have already played the mobile version: this game is superior to the mobile version in every single possible way. there are no time gates, no microtransactions, FAR better random drop chances, far less RNG in aquiring new bots, and everything in the game is aquirable by just playing the game. it's a one and done purchase, no strings attached. whatever progress you have made in the mobile version, you can catch up to from the start in a fraction of the time.
I've been playing this game since it was on mobile. I've always really loved this game and Botworld Odyssey is so much better!! No ads, no in app purchases, the balancing is better, and everything you buy is now with coins, and they're really easy to get! Only thing is that I wish there was an option to desummon, or at least deaggro, the recruits off of enemies
Botworld Odyssey on my personal opinion is a decent game for a creature collection / auto battle. However, it would be better if it has Quality of life updates for the full completion of the game as after you finish the story it really just dragging of grinding for parts. Yep I've mentioned parts as this game does not let you over level the enemies but has scaling enemies which I am not fan of (personal preference). It just didn't feel that I am getting stronger after some upgrades/training. Though on the good side, battle scene is a unique experience. It is similar to the Digimon world 1 that let your character provide support to your Bots in a limited way. Other things that made the game boring for me related as well for the full completion of the game are the following: 1. Took forever to encounter certain enemies for the quest specially the rare bots in certain area - I probably had bad RNG but that was really frustrating. 2. Except on dangerous area, you have limited regen or heal during your exploration. So I'm pretty sure you won't be able to defeat all enemies in area specially when you are high level because of the scaling. 3. Bot Part - Bot Essence (needed for upgrade past 20) is as well RNG. You need to defeat the shadow bot of the same bot you are trying to upgrade to go pass level 20. Or if you are lucky get via chest - again RNG based. 4. Terrible fishing mechanics - You can only fish one at a time on the fishing spots - if you fail if won't get any chance again. You'll have to return home and have reset. The Fish quality is RNG again even if you have better quality rods that should have boosted better fish, you wouldn't feel it. 5. Rare bot - if you move from one place to another without defeating the rare bot - They are gone forever for that run - You'll have to return home to reset if you are just for hunting those skin / essence. Overall, again this just maybe my preference but the game is decent just the experience I had within the game. It very grindy but does not let you feel rewarded. Music is good is relaxing and feel cozy (though not the grinding part of the game) but really blends with the story mode. It would have better experience if this game has at least x2 speed during battle. It is really a decent game on I would say average - However, as steam don't have that middle part. Between yes and no. This is a no for me.
I went into this game knowing that it was based on its mobile version Botworld Adventure, and presumably it was going to be balanced for single-player play. Unfortunately, I feel like that this game has maintained the original's free-to-play/pay-to-win roots. Sure, the microtransactions are gone from this version, but the progression doesn't seem to have changed much from most other games in the mobile space. You get some fast progression at the start to lure you in, and then it sort of plateaus in order to get you to give in to the microtransactions in order to actually make progress. This goes for experience, gold, story, the whole nine yards. Six hours in and I am only getting into the second zone. Money gains are pitiful, and when upgrading your bots doesn't only require crafting materials, but also gold which is usually in short supply. I can't suggest this game to anyone who isn't going to make it the ONLY game they ever play because of the grind, or someone who is willing to make a Cheat Engine trainer or something for it to help everyone else get SOME sort of fun out of it.
There's a lot of good things about this game but it's all overshadowed by every mechanic trying to draw out your time. It is insanely grindy and it really doesn't need to be, I am 16 hours in and feel like I am only 20% of the way through. Could have been much harder with a lot less fights and it would have been far better off for it, but the way this is balanced you pretty much just mindlessly bash your ♥♥♥♥ against some other ♥♥♥♥ and then numbers go up but then you get capped so nothing really matters. Got here because of Chained Beasts, which looks sick as ♥♥♥♥, so go check that out.
I'm newer to gaming and this has been super fun to get into! So much better than the mobile version, well worth the price. Would love to see some goods in the point shop xoxo
I really like the game and wish I could recommend it, but there are game breaking problems that ive notice. The game started on mobile and was designed for mobile, and you can tell by the grind in the steam version. The mobile version was a paid game with microtransactions that were forced upon you unless you want to keep grinding the same areas over and over. Scrap (used to upgrade your bots) is hard to find and youre supposed to use the microtransaction shop to get more scrap, or spend hours grinding the same areas over and over. getting new bots also requires scrap after you find the blueprints (also available in the Microtransaction shop). Did I forget to mention that theres no microtransaction shop on the steam version? Thats ok, because theres still a shop but it requires coins (the in game currency) that are extremely hard to find unless you get them from quests. Use your coins sparingly because you dont get that many and they are used as a pay in to compete in the arena. Unfortunately you cant avoid the arena to lvl up your boat house to upgrade your character. The game should have been adjusted for steam. Its a good game but its a grind and if you can sit thought the grinding then go for it but its not worth the price tag.
Superior to the mobile version in almost every aspect. No microtransactions, no timegates, simple botframe & skin farming, and far less grinding overall. Though the only thing that hasn't changed is the ridiculous amount of enemy spawns If you're hesitant on purchasing the game then play the demo or the mobile game to see whether or not you like it as the core gameplay loop has not changed between versions.
