"Bullet Beat: Musical Shoot'em up" ist ein Shoot ´em up. (NOTE: I have only played the part where one can upload their own music files to play the game, assuming this is what most people will play the game for) Pros: -Great concept -Good gameplay (when the game isn't too difficult) -Achievements -Good interface -MP3 file support -Various power-ups -Good artstyle -Levels react very well to the beat of the music -Cheap price Cons: -Awful choice of controls. With the keyboard, you can only control the ship with the mouse. With the controller, you can only use the D-Pad. Using Steam controller, using the Joystick Mouse and lowering the sensitivity helps quite a bit. -Difficulty is absurd to the point the game is hard to enjoy. A lot of the enemies just stand still. And while they can be killed, they take too many hits to be able to be destroyed with the main weapon. These enemies get in the way of the gameplay, making it very tedious to maneuver your ship around, especially when the game speeds up. -Barely any power-ups spawn on Survival mode -Questionable collision detection -Interesting scoring system that is ruined by the big amount of standing still enemies, Other: -Hardware Requirements: Low -Game is family-friendly: Yes -Difficulty: Mostly very difficult -Overall game recommendation: More or less not recommended. Additional notes: This game has a lot of potential to be a great game, but in its current state, the game is very tedious and difficult to play. It needs improvement badly and a lot of change, therefore I will leave a negative review until the game is improved.
Frustrating and Unpolished Those are the two words that come to mind when I think of Bullet Beat, a game which takes music files and turns them into shump levels via procedural generation. An extremely poor man's Beat Hazard if I do say so myself. Save yourself the money and just don't buy this game. You'll find yourself dying a lot of frustrating and cheap deaths, as well as being absolutely confused on what is an obstacle and an enemy you're trying to gun down. The presentation is also very unpolished (think cheap flash game) with its interface. Go buy Beat Hazard instead.
