Another Mega Man inspired GEM!!!

This fantastic game and more on Hardcore Reviews! ⚡
Super Alloy Ranger is an excellent 2D platformer inspired by the Mega Man series, delivering a classic experience with a variety of linear levels filled with secrets, different enemies, and powerful bosses that reward you with new upgrades after defeating them. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3680097124 While the core gameplay is simple, the game shines with its beautiful presentation. The pixel art is incredibly polished and colorful, and the anime-style characters look really cool and lovable. The boss fights are great, with big enemy sprites and interesting patterns, each rewarding you with unique upgrades. I also want to highlight the soundtrack. It sounds great, perfectly matching the game’s action and aesthetic. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3680097417 🐧 I have to mention another big plus: its Linux support. I completely left the “blue window” behind, so it’s always great to see developers supporting Linux users, not only through Proton but also with a native version of the game. youtube.com/watch?v=mIUo63_jalY&feature=youtu.be In short, I highly recommend giving Super Alloy Ranger a chance. Consider supporting the Alloy Mushroom team by buying the game or adding it to your wishlist. It’s a classic style platformer with fantastic visuals, great music, and very fun gameplay. At its current low price, it’s a must have for fans of the genre. Thanks fro reading :D
Super Alloy Ranger is a game that dares to ask a bold question: what if Mega Man's buster needed to recharge? ...Yeah, I don't know what they were thinking. There's a limit on how long you can shoot Kelly's gun before it runs low on energy and needs to recharge. You can still shoot, but it doesn't do very much damage. Needless to say, there's a lot of downtime during boss fights, which is less than ideal. They also bungled the special weapons. There are eight, but five of them do functionally the same thing in most cases. Also, all of them go in a straight line except for the spread shot and the grenade, the latter of which is located in an optional area immediately before the final boss, at which point it's no longer useful. I hope you didn't enjoy the variety of weapons in Mega Man games... The levels are pretty fun, for the most part. None particularly stuck with me, but I didn't get frustrated by any of them either. The music is fine as well. As for art, if you've ever played a Metal Slug game, you'll see where a lot of the inspiration for this game's art come from, and it works. The fire and explosions in particular look really good, bang-up job on those. As for the story, it's not very interesting. Doesn't help that the game has a spotty translation. You could read a synopsis and not miss much. Basically, Super Alloy Ranger is budget Mega Man X. It's reasonably fun for the $5 I paid for it, but I can't seriously recommend it when there are better games doing the same thing. P.S. No. 2 might be more fun to play as. I don't care enough to do a second playthrough.
Super Alloy Ranger, developed by Alloy Mushroom and published by Neverland Entertainment, is a confident and well-executed side-scrolling action game that draws heavily from classic genre staples while refining them with modern responsiveness and polish. It doesn’t try to reinvent the formula, but instead focuses on delivering a tight, satisfying experience built on precise movement, varied combat, and thoughtfully constructed levels. From the very beginning, it feels like a game made by developers who understand exactly what makes traditional action platformers work. The premise is straightforward, placing players on a hostile, machine-controlled planet where a group of space hunters must survive and push forward against overwhelming odds. The narrative provides enough context to tie the levels together, but it remains secondary to the gameplay. Story beats are present, but they don’t demand attention or slow down the pacing, allowing the game to maintain a strong focus on action and progression. This approach suits the genre well, even if the plot itself lacks depth or memorable twists. Where the game excels most is in its movement and combat systems. Controls feel responsive and deliberate, giving players a sense of precision that is essential in a game built around fast reactions and careful positioning. Abilities such as dashing, double jumping, and wall interactions create a fluid movement system that encourages both speed and control. Combat integrates seamlessly with this mobility, allowing players to attack while maneuvering through enemies and hazards. The result is a gameplay loop that feels dynamic and rewarding, where mastery comes from learning how to balance offense and defense in motion. A standout feature is the dual-character system, which introduces meaningful variation without overcomplicating the core mechanics. One character focuses on ranged attacks, offering flexibility and safer positioning, while the other emphasizes close-quarters combat and raw power. Switching between these playstyles changes how encounters are approached, adding a layer of strategy to what might otherwise be a straightforward action game. Combined with upgrade systems that allow for customization, this gives players the freedom to experiment and adapt their approach based on preference and situation. The level design reinforces this flexibility. Each stage introduces new environmental elements and challenges that require players to adjust their tactics. Whether navigating tight platforming sections, dealing with environmental hazards, or facing waves of enemies, the game consistently keeps players engaged by varying its scenarios. Hidden areas and collectibles encourage exploration, adding an extra incentive to revisit levels and refine performance. Boss encounters serve as key highlights, combining pattern recognition with fast-paced execution to create battles that feel both challenging and fair. Visually, Super Alloy Ranger leans into detailed pixel art that balances nostalgia with clarity. Characters are expressive, animations are smooth, and environments are rich enough to feel distinct without becoming visually overwhelming. The art direction complements the gameplay by ensuring that important elements—such as enemy attacks and hazards—remain easy to read even during intense moments. Sound design and music further support the experience, maintaining a steady sense of energy that aligns with the game’s action-oriented focus. Despite its strengths, the game does have some limitations. Its biggest drawback is its reliance on familiar ideas. Players who are well-versed in the genre will recognize many of its mechanics and design choices, and the game rarely steps outside those established boundaries. While this doesn’t diminish the quality of execution, it does mean that the experience can feel predictable at times. Additionally, the narrative remains underdeveloped, serving more as a backdrop than a driving force. The difficulty curve can also fluctuate, with certain sections demanding a higher level of precision that may feel abrupt for some players. Even with these issues, the game remains consistently engaging due to how well it handles its fundamentals. It delivers a polished and cohesive experience that respects the player’s skill and rewards improvement. The combination of responsive controls, varied gameplay elements, and strong level design ensures that it remains enjoyable from start to finish, even if it doesn’t break new ground. In the end, Super Alloy Ranger is a strong example of how refinement can be just as valuable as innovation. It takes a familiar formula and executes it with care, resulting in a game that feels both nostalgic and modern. For fans of classic action platformers, it offers a satisfying and well-crafted experience that is easy to appreciate and rewarding to master. Rating: 8/10

This game is very much inspired by Megaman, and while it's obvious that it's this developer's first commercial game or at least on their firsts, it's still fun enough to play. It is significantly easier than Megaman games as you can spam attacks frame after frame. The translation is done by someone who sadly didn't know enough English to get the full message across but the plot isn't hard to understand nor is it something to worry about.
