TL;DR: I recommend this game. Keyboard and Mouse controls are a bit weird to get used to. The movement and the shooting are wonderful. I wouldn't recommend 100%ing it, unless you have in mind the vending machine and blimp achievements as you progress the story. Sunset Overdrive is one of those games that provides so much joy and humour as you play; stringing parkour from one side of the city to the other side while killing ODs and racking up a huge combo. It's nothing but an awesome dream. I'd personally highly recommend, it's built for xbox first, and it shows that with how the parkour can be a little bit clunky and can feel extremely weird at times. But, that was 1% of the entire playthrough. I fully finished the game and 100%d with all achievements. I can't say it was super fun, but you can clearly see the typical "Destroy X" type of achievement like in the old Xbox days, which I can enjoy at times. The one that typically got me in a choke hold was the "Crash Landing" achievement. I never knew you could blow up the blimps, so having to find a strategy to just "spawn in > kill blimp > reset challenge (glide challenge #2 my belovered)." Just to do this for this specific achievement. The movement, parkour and gunplay feel extremely good. One bad thing for being a person that likes odd keybinds, if you rebind "Roll / Grind" to a mouse button (mouse 4 in my case,) you can't go around the corners of a wall run, you have to rebind the control to something on the keyboard and it'll work as intended again. Unsure why this is the case, but I just learnt how to get around it anyway. Story is interesting, I did lose a bit of what the "lore" was meant to be in here and there, but I like the references and 4th wall breaking parts. It's charming for a game from this era. One last thing: I also experienced crashing. But this was only after a LONG period of gameplay. I'm assuming it's a memory issue, but easily fixed just by saving and quitting. I also had weird issues of sound effects not play at times, broke all AI in the game and music just turning off randomly. All of these are fixed just by save quitting the game. Annoying, but what do you expect from an old game for Xboxs first.
Muito divertido!! pena que não é valorizado como devia
Sunset Overdrive is a fun and crazy action game that never takes itself seriously. It’s full of jokes, breaks the fourth wall all the time, and keeps the gameplay entertaining from start to finish. The best part is the movement system—you’re constantly jumping, grinding on rails, and bouncing across rooftops, so standing still is almost never an option. The weapons are just as creative as the rest of the game. Almost every gun feels unique and works differently, which keeps the combat fresh for a long time. Some of the side activities can become repetitive, but they’re easy to ignore if you just want to focus on the main story. The story itself is pretty simple and mostly serves as a reason for all the chaos happening around you, but that doesn’t hurt the experience. If you're looking for a colorful, fast-paced action game that doesn’t take itself too seriously, Sunset Overdrive is definitely worth trying.
it's fun but it's also a steaming pile of ♥♥♥♥.. this game is just stupid in so many ways. Im going to put this as recommended but please take it with a spoon of salt. cutscenes are unskippable the characters wont shut up traversal is fun but only gets so advanced there are like 7 different enemies guns are fun but also very one dimensional game launched for the first time telling me my save was corrupted.. made a new save and it worked all the way through DLCs are just more of the same my monkey brain enjoyed getting all the collectibles
The story feels like it was written by a fifth grader. It's presented in a confusing and often contradictory way, so you rarely know what's actually going on, but that fits the game's intention of being complete chaos, so you eventually just stop caring that nothing makes any sense. The interactions, story, and dialogue are over-the-top and seem thrown together, yet because the game never takes itself seriously, it somehow works perfectly. These may sound like criticisms, but for *Sunset Overdrive*, they really aren't. It's simply a one-of-a-kind experience. The gameplay is genuinely fun, and that's more than enough while you watch what feels like a fifth-grade postmodern work of art being built in the background. Beneath all the absurdity, there's actually a surprisingly interesting social commentary that recalls the punk movement and its rebellion against the capitalist system, which makes the story, despite everything, remarkably original. You can say a lot of things about this game, but "generic" definitely isn't one of them. Speaking of the punk movement, the soundtrack is easily one of the best punk rock soundtracks I've ever heard. Even if you don't plan on playing the game, I'd still recommend listening to the music if you're into rock. On PC, the game also has an issue where it displays a fake "corrupted save" message and can crash from time to time.
This game is rad and dope. Totally tubular even. Everyone deserves to try this game. 10 / 10
