I have played a number of point-and-click adventure games recently, and this was the one that I liked the best. In addition to the positive aspects mentioned in other reviews -- unique and detailed artwork, colorful characters, decent puzzles, offbeat sense of humor -- what I appreciated the most is the way this game respects the player's time. - Double-clicking on the edge of the screen causes the main character to immediately move to the next screen, so you never have to watch him slowly walk across the screen while navigating from one location to another. - Right-clicking on the screen reveals all objects that can be interacted with in some way, keeping pixel hunting to a minimum. This is an especially helpful feature for this particular game, because the artwork is very detailed and there are hundreds of objects on each screen that look as if they might be clickable. - The UI for inventory management is especially good. All inventory items that could potentially be "used" on an object in the world are displayed directly on the object's interaction menu, so you never have to fuss with a separate inventory window, or awkwardly drag items from one window to another. - There is an icon that tells you whether or not there is an action available in the current location. This saves time having to search in locations that are not relevant to the current story objective. - An excellent built-in hint system provides three levels of hints: 1) the location where the current story objective can be performed; 2) a vague description of what needs to be done in that location; 3) a clear statement of what exactly needs to be done, in case the first two hints were not enough. Given such a thorough hint system, there should never be any need to refer to an external walkthrough; in fact I almost never needed the second and third levels of hints, because the puzzles are logical enough that I was able to solve most of them with a simple location hint. Overall, Subterraneus is an excellent point-and-click adventure that deserves more attention. The developer has clearly put a lot of time and work into it, and everything about the game, especially the UI, feels polished and works extremely well. I hope that other aspiring developers will discover this game, and take some lessons from it in how to design a playable and enjoyable adventure.

Follow The Cpt Froggy Club Curator Page for plenty more!
A point-n-click adventure where you’ll guide Clodomir through the underworld of the garbage collection centre, brought to you by CrazyKraken. You play as Clodomir; you’re looking forward to the Snail Race Grand Finale, which is on later tonight, but first you decide to dispose of your garbage for recycling at the collection centre. So, you head off to the collection centre, and while you’re throwing your garbage into the collection hole, you’re hit on the head by someone’s garbage, which knocks you out and you plummet into the collection hole. At the bottom of this deep hole is where all the garbage is collected for recycling, which allows for the limitless reuse of these resources, as the world is overpopulated with dwindling resources. Luckily for you, someone had thrown away a mattress, and you just happened to land on it, breaking your fall. You wake up to find yourself in a cave on top of a giant garbage pile. You look to see if you can climb back to the surface but you’re miles underground and unable to climb back up. So, you climb down the pile of rubbish and start to search the cave looking for a way back to the surface, and hopefully get back in time for the grand finale snail racing you’ve been so excited about watching. As you make your way through the cave system, checking everything around you in case you find something which may come in handy later, you find yourself in an underground village. Upon entering the village, you notice a well, a tavern and exits to other parts of the village and caves. There’s also a guard who seems to be sleeping, so you go to ask him for help in getting back to the surface; sadly he hasn’t a clue, but says the mayor may be able to help you. However, the mayor is a drunk and lives in the tavern, which isn’t really a problem until the guard tells you that you can’t enter the tavern unless you have a “Tankard ID”. It seems everyone’s a drunk down here and has personalised tankards as identification. The guard says to you that the blacksmith can help you in acquiring a tankard ID, so you head off to see the blacksmith for some ID so you can have a talk with the mayor about getting back home. Sadly, the blacksmith is nowhere to be found, so you start looking around the village and surrounding areas for a tankard and a way back to the surface. As you search through the caves and villages, you’ll find objects scattered around the place. Some you’ll be able to take with you, or you’ll be able to use another object on them. At the blacksmith’s there’s a crafting table which you can use to combine certain objects together, which can then be used elsewhere. So, you must check everywhere thoroughly; one missed object could have you running around like a headless chicken wondering what to do. There are two game difficulties - Jhom Wadson (hints available) and Shernock Folmes (no hints available). Once you’ve chosen the difficulty, you’ll be given the option of how the text will flow, either Manual (click for next text) or Automatic (text will move on after a few seconds). If you decide to go with automatic, you’ll still be able to click to pass a line of text. If you do play the game with the easier game setting, Jhom Wadson, and you find yourself scratching your head about what to do, then in the top left corner there’s a “question mark” which, when you click it, makes Shernock Folmes appear; he’ll give you a hint on whether there’s something of interest that you’re missing. To help, you can also hold right click down - it will open a small round window which you can move around the screen to find points of possible interest, which are indicated by an exclamation mark. The options consist of Language (English and French), Fullscreen, Resolution, Volume and Luminosity. There’s three save slots for you to save any progress, and the game does save automatically after each action you take. You can play the game with only the use of your mouse. Positives + Nice hand-drawn graphics + Funny Dialogs + Saves automatically for you after each action Negatives - Game froze on me a couple times - No achievements - No cards Help Clodomir search for a way to escape from the recycle collection centre and back to his surface home in time for tonight’s Snail Racing Grand Finale. 7/10
Key provided by developer/publisher for review purposes via THE CPT FROGGY CLUB!
Short but very good point and click. -Lovely artstyle; I recomend turning the brightness up in game to appreaciate it more. -Great world building and imersion. -Good puzzle design. Its mosly standard inventory based puzzles but interestingly combining items is done through world objects such as crafting tables etc -Great modern UI; when you click on any object to interact with the inventory items appear in a dial and context actions appears in the center of the dial. There is also hold right click to reveal hotspots and as previously mentioned there are world objects to interact with which have a nice and simple interface. All together very easy and enjoyable to use. -Very clever Hint System; As mentioned there is a hold right cli ck to reveal hotspots but additionally there is a fantastic general help icon that simply indicates whether there is anything at all to accomplish, such as picking up an item or interacting with something, on the current screen. This means it doesn't give away the solution but it solves the problem of going back and forth and trying everything with everything. You can of course disable this feature but I would think the game could be very difficult without it. Overall Recomended.

If you want to see more of our reviews, subscribe: True Reviews English Edition Gameplay: Game offers an oldschool type point & click puzzle-adventure. You have to examine and combine things that you take in your pockets. + nice humour. I liked just to click on different things and read well-written texts; + some kind of crafting system. By essence it's not a new feature. You can combine things in other adventures as well, but it realized here otherwise. - bad hint system. I don't like feel myself stupid but this game did it to me. I stuck in the location before the village, understanding that I need to do something with water. I tried everything and decided to click a hint. It says that there's something here. OMG, how helpful. Actually, this is the reason why I turned off the game. Graphics: It has simple but nice handwritten graphics that reminds of late 90s - early 2000s games. Sound and Music: Sweet and not annoying soundtrack, sounds made very good and realistic. Maybe just not enough voice acting to diversify and enrich the game. Interface and Control: Interface is minimalistic and doesn't clost the main picture. + conveniently implemented wheel of choice; - character walks very slow from point to point. So when you have to send him to the other end of the map, it tooks a long time. Price: I think the real price of this game is 7-8 dollars. And selling shows well that something is not right. Game that gives +1 to library with 0 reviews after several days is a rare thing today. Игра, которая дает +1 библиотеке с 0 отзывами спустя несколько дней, сегодня встречается редко. pretty good 3-hour cartoony point & click, expected worse. some humor and grammar issues with great quality of life features I'd like to see more often. instant text that can advance automatically or with a click, no gibberish or text display sound, smart actions toggle (if you can't talk to something, the mouth icon won't appear), exits marked differently and the character leaves the scene imeediately with double-click, which also speeds up movement in general. manual saving is not possible to revisit places or whatever but autosaves happen after every action. it's not a lazy mobile port, so mouseover shows hotspots and right-click acts as a dedicated hotspot indicator. however, it only shows objects around the cursor, so sweeping every screen over and over is still necessary and a major annoyance, bordering on being a dealbreaker because you're exploring an underground dump and the hundreds of items (one of the 'features') are literally littered everywhere. luckily, there's a reduced option for hotspots that ignores fluff items, so much so that it also makes them unclickable. not ideal and also buggy: there are a few items still highlighted in reduced mode that can't be clicked. the 'let's check if there's anything to do on this screen' button is pretty novel though, and the journal has hints on what to do with what if you get stuck. good enough overall but I'd still like a full screen option for the hotspots, marking already examined things differently and still letting you interact with everything whether they're highlighted or not without messing with the settings all the time, and manual saves over multiple slots, not just 3 separate saves/profiles. and as always, ♥♥♥♥ the maze.
It is pretty good point-and-click game with lots of fun moments. Generally every aspect of the game has a good level. it is necessary to talk to people to know what to do. There is not so much useful objects so it is easy to pick them in the right moment. There is only one crafting place where you can combine object. I like the build-in help guide with three levels of help from general place to detail item. It was quite fun to play the game.
