A sad excuse of a sequel compared to the original. Not only does Stronghold Crusader 2 are unable to introduce anything significantly new except from crappy unoptimized 3D visuals, it actually went on and degrade the already complete and refined mechanics of its predecessor. Anything positive that you can find inside this slop is already an average feature in the original. IF it were to be a single entry and NOT a sequel to another, it would've been an OKAY game in general. But there is completely no reason to install this one instead of the original, and no reason at all to consider this as a worthy replacement. Do yourself a favor and stick with the first game.
As someone who enjoys classic RTS games and castle-building mechanics, Stronghold Crusader 2 was a game I honestly had a lot of fun with. It’s not a perfect game, and it definitely has its flaws, but while playing it, I often found myself saying, “Yeah, this is exactly why I love Stronghold games.” What immediately pulled me in was the familiar loop of building a castle from scratch. Managing food, wood, stone, taxes, and population still feels satisfying. There’s something very relaxing about slowly watching your desert fortress come to life while preparing for the inevitable enemy attack. Combat feels solid and enjoyable, especially when large armies clash around walls, gates, and towers. Positioning troops, defending chokepoints, and timing attacks gives battles a nice strategic feel. I also really enjoyed the skirmish mode — it’s easily where I spent most of my time. Tweaking match settings, choosing different AI lords, and experimenting with castle layouts kept the game replayable for me. That said, the game isn’t without issues. The AI can be hit or miss. Sometimes enemies feel too passive, other times oddly aggressive without much tactical sense. It doesn’t always challenge you in a smart way, especially if you’ve played older Stronghold titles. The 3D graphics are another mixed bag. While I appreciate the attempt to modernize the series, the visuals can feel dated and a bit clunky at times. Performance hiccups and animations aren’t always as smooth as you’d expect, which occasionally breaks immersion. Some mechanics also feel a bit shallow compared to what they could have been. Unit variety and certain economic systems don’t have as much depth as I hoped, and the campaign feels weaker than the skirmish experience. Still, despite these downsides, I genuinely enjoyed my time with Stronghold Crusader 2. It captures the core Stronghold feeling — building, defending, and attacking castles in a harsh desert environment — and that alone made it worth playing for me. It may not be the ultimate sequel fans dreamed of, but as a strategy game played from a fan’s perspective, it delivered many hours of fun. If you like castle-building RTS games and enjoyed earlier Stronghold titles, this is a game that’s easy to sink time into — flaws and all.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 24 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,404 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Stronghold Crusader 1 é melhor, 4/10.
Leider einfach nur Hühnerfutter!
