About
Strange Seed is a creature evolution game inspired by games like E.V.O.: Search for Eden and Spore’s creature stage. You begin as a humble blob: the “strange seed” that fell from a very unusual tree. While many blobs exist, you’re not quite like the others.

Defeat creatures to collect their DNA and unlock new body parts. Reshape yourself and experiment with combinations to build the ultimate form. But remember that balance is key: a strong torso and powerful head might win fights, but what good is strength if you can’t catch your prey? With 7 part slots and over 40 creatures to discover, you’ll have over 10 million possible combinations to play with.

Venture through 10+ unique biomes, from lush forests and sandy beaches to cityscapes and even the heart of a volcano. Each environment brings its own challenges. Too big for a narrow path? Evolve into something smaller. Stuck at a platform you can’t reach? Grow wings and take to the air. The world is full of secrets; can you uncover them all?

Don’t let the colorful world fool you - Strange Seed is full of danger. Creatures range from simple lizards to ferocious, Soulslike bosses. And victory isn’t just about reflexes: the right combination of parts could be the difference between survival and defeat. If you’re clever enough, you might even find ways to cheese your way to victory!

Very jank there are a lot of spots where textures are incomplete or objects lack collision. That said I have really enjoyed it so far which is better than most games. The game is like if you played as John Carpenters The Thing It is alot like Cubivore or the 2nd/3rd stages of Spore. You kill. You eat. You evolve. You get better at killing obtain more forms to solve puzzles. The puzzles give you lore or more powers to play with.
ok so no hate to the devs game is aight at best it is by no means great it is playable but there are so many better games to play that are like this. as a tip for you devs make the game less liniar and combat more interesting then just walk up bite and walk away add something like a dodge harder enemys and make combat faster then the upgrades feel meh make eachpart have more impact and are easyer to get like in spore as im gonna guess that was the main inspiration also the cartoony border really is just to much makes it feel like the game is ment for 2 year olds wich it might be but then atleast make a difficulty setting or something
a decent game reminds me a lot of spore, probably why I like it
I definitely recommend playing this game if you loved SPORE back in the days. (review after doing everything except beating the minigame, that one is really hard).
This is the dark souls of sporelikes. It's fun and silly, which is too uncommon these days. The game definitely feels early access in that the overall level of polish for the core gameplay isn't quite there yet but the game idea is solid. The combat is the big issue, as the game is largely centered around combat (you need to consume creatures to gain more parts) and it is either much too easy or unnecessarily punishing. As it stands, the game is fun enough to explore around and design horrendous abominations that I can't really complain too much about the overall experience. The music is a nice touch, very whimsical and reminiscent of the work of Grant Kirkhope in the Banjo Kazooie games. Some nice quality of life touches in the game as well, you can resurrect dead NPCs should you accidentally kill them (though at a cost). And in the occasions you manage to clip through the geometry and fall through the world the return to in-bounds mechanism is very friendly. It just casually pops you back up, no deaths or anything penalizing. I spent I think $10 and got ten hours of gameplay, doing the vast majority of the content. Can't really beat the cost to gameplay ratio. And while I don't plan on playing the game in the near future as I don't see this as a game with back-to-back playthough levels of replayability, but I will certainly come back for another playthough some time in the future.
great game
Somewhat janky. But still pretty fun. A great spiritual successor to Spore.
amazing game 9/10 (I don't give 10/10s) it was really fun that I 100% the game got every achievement and still am coming back for more
A very fun and cute game. Gave some good spore-vibes but played very differently. Invites heavily for tinkering with combinations and parts, sadly makes combining a grindy chore that's also nastily random. Does not only reward exploration but demands it. Very rewarding in evolving from a tiny helpless lil snot to whatever apex-predator you want to become. So gradually and granular, very little games offer. It is VERY clunky though, but had no real issues or crashes. Totally worth the asking price despite the downsides. It's a unique pearl where I really hope for a sequel! Good: - Creative and fun gameplay - Cute graphics - Excellent loading-times - No wasted time when dying. 1-2 seconds and you're at it again. - Nice humor sprinkled in Bad: - Clunky, could have used a good while longer in QC/Playtesting (but nothing gamebreaking) - Positioning/locking onto enemies is abymsal, i heavily relied on AoE-damage just to reliably hit enemies around me - You can become so good in e.g. mobility, that devs didn't think of how high you can fly, so it's easy to reach map boundaries you shouldn't have reached. - Incredibly annoying music that loops very tiny fragments forever. One of the few games i muted the music quickly. Which is a great bummer to me. - Why the horrible random in combining? The ressource for it is already sparse. I had to cheat my part to go nuts in combining.
good start but was unable to pull up any menu that wasn't based in the nest. couldn't quick change mutations even after finding and unlocking it and the escape button menu wouldn't pop up so i had to commands tab to end program
