Stone warns you not to "expect any gameplay" which is a very bold way to present itself. As a short interactive story you're already not expecting much in terms of gameplay, but every game like it has had some sort of hook or mechanic that helps it distinguish itself agaisnt the others, and yet Stone wears the "no gameplay" badge with pride. Since there's no gameplay, you're really here for the story and the atmosphere. And it's alright. It leaves you wanting more, not necessarily because you'll be asking for a sequel, but because it's so short and straightforward that it almost feels like a prologue or a prequel to something else. So if not for the gameplay, and not for the story... why play Stone? Well, for Stone himself. I wanted to play this game to play as the chunky stoner Koala detective weating a hawaiian shirt. And that's really all you're getting here. And Stone himself really makes me wish there was more to this game than what there is: Stone looks like a point-and-click protagonist. He would definitely have a lot of funny quips about the items in his inventory, or the stuff he can interact with, or the places he goes. I wanna know more about his life, what he did before and after the events of the game, wanna know more about his relationships, etc. And none of that is here. Stone feels like a prologue to something else. And I really hope that's the case. I want to see more of Stone in future installments. But what is here now isnt enough, and it's frustrating how much it leaves you wanting more. ...Also the graphics are a little rough at times, not bad just very blandish, specially the characters. Feels like the excellect character design is being held back by the 3D models. The music was nice though.
With memory loss likely in cahoots with the groggy slushing in his head, the PI koala wakes to find his boyfriend missing. it seems both yesterday and today are co-conspirators of the same hangover, playing out tumultuous loops in his mind! will the stoned ♥♥♥♥ crack the case ..or crack A case and watch night of the living dead while blitzed off his gourde? interesting enough game that travels a short distance but packs for the winter! Art is good. game moves smoothly (no run). voice over is all on point, it is mostly casual down beat conversing, with askew personal sequences and revelation. true to say that it is not really a puzzle game, it is mostly concerned with telling story. so i guess depending on your preference you could consider it a really casual game or an incredibly well stocked novel or visual/audio presentation. It has packed not only a pretty dam fair selection of rock hip hop and other music but also has roughly 2 plates of cb-cookies worth of actual full movies you can watch in game! (noice!) although the dude acheivment doesnt unlock for me. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3168503975 it was a steep hard climb to emotional high ground and I was looking for a sniper!
Throw in a bit of Guy Richie, mix with a bit of The Big Lebowski (even the duderino is mentioned) and you have STONE. The protagonist is a beach-bum sort of guy, who's also a private investigator trying to find a person after a serious night of partying. In terms of gameplay, it's a very light adventure game, meaning that there's not that much adventuring or investigation to do. You're mostly interacting with something here or there in a linear way. Think of it as a visual novel with a controllable character and interactions. I'm not describing this as a critique, it's a very nice game with a great story and characters. And as a plus, STONE can smoke a joint whenever you feel like it.
Furry bloke fever dream
https://youtu.be/RR1yMziF6q4 Stumble through loosely connected narrative scenes that lack enough animation detail to sell the scenes while the voice acting and writing struggles to keep up.
innit?
a funny heartfelt story based game made by Australians. it is a bit on the short side though, it took me less than an hour to get through it all. get it on sale if it looks good to you. has a cool soundtrack and full old movies in it too!
Le point positif : c'est court... ;-) Pas désagréable, mais pas top... 10 balles, c'est bien trop cher. 4/10
A walking simulator / visual novel. Not much game-play, art-style is a little basic, 3rd person camera was too zoomed in, music, which seems was a big focus, was not really to my taste and UI was not optimized for controller, but despite all of those problems there was a certain charm to it. The story while simple was engaging, the cinema and included short film was interesting and the voice acting was decent. Its not the worst way to spend a couple of hours.
This is a simplistic single-player story game where you play as a hungover/stoned "ex-detective" Koala named Stone trying to find out about a friend that has been kidnapped. The writing leans from predictable to average at best and isn´t a very memorable experience in general BUT the soundtrack is amazing and for me, that´s worth the purchase of this game (at least on sale). The soundtrack on this game makes it more interesting to explore/reach 100% completion. The game somehow wasn´t boring and it definitely has a style to it. Just a slightly above average game. My final rating for this game is a (low) 6/10.
