About
The city burns and bleeds as it suffers the madness of King Louis XVI and his violent legions of automatons. Aegis, a mechanical masterpiece created by the engineer Vaucanson to be the queen's bodyguard, must save the French Revolution in this challenging action-RPG.
Up against the king's mechanical soldiers, deadly accuracy will be needed. String together dodges, parries, jumps and devastating attacks to fight your way through Paris. Every fight will test your nerve and requires excellent discipline, while the huge relentless machine bosses demand patience and skill.
Define your own style and upgrade your abilities as you progress through the game. You can play as a ruthless warrior, a hard-hitting bodyguard, a deadly dancer or a virtuoso of the elemental arts. Take advantage of a wide variety of weapons and skills to approach each fight in your own unique way.
Using carriages, grapples, secret passages, a detailed map, and other methods and tools you find along the way, explore a city experiencing its darkest days. Your grappling hook adds a new dimension to exploration and Paris's verticality. Combined with your dash ability, it will provide access to all the city's secrets across multiple levels you can explore over and over again.
You are one of the main characters of an alternative history where Paris is being choked by a tyrant king. Allies and enemies with unclear motives will cross your path, such as Marie-Antoinette, Lafayette and Robespierre. It's up to you to cut a path through all the plotting and put an end to one man's madness so that the French Revolution succeeds.

Reviews
Has to be the most insulting piece of software I have ever purchased. Didn't take the reviews complaining about performance and controls too seriously since the game overall has fairly positive reviews and boy was that a mistake. Makes Enotria look like GOTY.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 24 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,404 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

The concept of the game is cool, but the game is awful... The hitboxes are bad, the first boss arena filled with corpses that makes it all foul... Like, the game has its own difficulty, why make it all worse? The camera isn't the best too. Overall the game needs some improvements and good polish... Also, not a big fan of the engine in the bot overcharging with one dodge and two attacks. And is a shame, I was really interested in it.
100% Achievement Review #25
● Estimated difficulty: 6/10 ● Approximate amount of time to 100%: 30 hours ● Online achievements: none ● Number of missable achievements: 15 ● Difficulty based achievements: yes, you must complete the game on normal and without using the Oil Burette (this games version of the Estus Flask) ● Minimum playthroughs: 1 ● DLC required: yes, you need the Cagliostros Secrets DLC ● Glitched achievements: none Notes Steelrising was a pretty good game and with some changes made i would even call it great. The difficulty even when it claims to be a souls like is not too high, on normal and without the Oil Burette I died only once on all of the bosses and a handful of times outside of the boss battles. Outside of the difficulty however you have a bunch of the classic souls like stuff here, Oil Burette is your Estus Flask, you got bonfires in the form of Vestals, souls and dodge heavy combat. Steelrising is however a faster paced game, there is a great system of being able to refill your stamina by cooling yourself down (and applying the cold debuff to yourself) which works well, the traversal is also good, you will get an air dash and a grappling hook later on in the game and the maps are very well designed when it comes to short cuts outside of 1 map that being the Bastille, which is honestly a pain to go back to. Now achievements, these are the biggest reason why the difficulty is a 6/10, because the game itself is not that difficult, but the achievements are really convoluted. One of the achievements (Friend of the people) has you talk to multiple NPCs inside buildings, the problem is multiple times there are specific things you need to do for these conversations to trigger, or an item you need to have for them to consider completed. In Luxembourg for example, the NPC would break and refuse to speak with me, which thankfully counted for the achievement somehow. And in the Bastille you need to speak to a prisoner and bring him a piece of bread, however if you do not have the bread before that he will simply die if you try to come back again, locking you out of the achievement. Outside of this there are a few miscellaneous achievements related to the endings, my recommendation is to play the game until you reach the point of no return, which is right after Bastille when you need to travel to Versailles. At this point make a copy of your save file and store it somewhere, then do a completionist playthrough doing everything and making certain choice during some of the quests, I wont go into details as that is out of the scope of this review but there are great guides online that will get you through, the guide from NYC_MVP on psnprofiles.com is awesome. Make sure you are also not using the Oil Burette, you can however use Oil Vials which you can buy from the shop and they also drop from enemies. One more thing to note is that there is an achievement where you need to upgrade weapons from each of the classes to level 5, the upgrade part needed for level 5 is Orichalcum which only drops from bosses and you can buy 2 of them in the shop. Thanks to the DLC there are 2 extra Orichalcum ingots to spare but still make sure to split these upgrades to save yourself from a second playthrough. The weapons you need to upgrade are: Guns, Claws, Twin blades, Fans, Maces, Chains and Halberds. The DLC itself is a pretty short map and story that is the most challenging content in the game, achievements here are fairly straight forward, you only need to watch out for 1 missable which is to kill the final boss only with weapons found in the DLC itself. Wrapping up Steelrising is a fairly good experience, one thing that would very much improve the experience is if the stamina meter did not go down outside of combat. It made it a chore to run around the maps for side quests and constantly running out of stamina, moreover the mechanic of refilling your stamina does not work outside of combat so you cannot even replenish it that easily. There were a few bugs, like picking up items being pretty buggy, sometimes you would pick up the item but the little spirit showing the item would stay there needing multiple prompts to actually get rid of that, other times I would pick up the spirit but not get any item, which I dont even know if its a bug or intended. The story itself is fairly standard but what really carries the game is the level design, the soundtrack is pretty good too especially the main theme. Most importantly if you feel intimidated by souls likes and want a pretty good starter point i would say Steelrising is one, the difficulty is pretty forgiving and it will get you used to some of the parts of souls likes.
Steelrising was a really pleasant surprise. The alternate-history French Revolution setting is one of the most unique worlds I’ve seen in a Souls-like game, and the atmosphere is incredible from start to finish. Paris feels dark, mechanical, and strangely beautiful at the same time. Combat is satisfying and flexible, especially with all the different weapon styles and builds. Aegis is also a great protagonist — fast, elegant, and deadly. I appreciated that the game keeps the challenge without becoming frustrating, and the assist mode makes it much more accessible for players who normally avoid Souls-likes. The soundtrack, art direction, enemy design, and story all work together extremely well. It may not have the budget of bigger AAA titles, but it has a lot of creativity and passion behind it. If you enjoy action RPGs, steampunk aesthetics, or Souls-like games with fresh ideas, Steelrising is definitely worth playing.
Never seen a single other game that no matter how much computing horsepower you throw at it, it still runs like ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. Purchased on a laptop with an AMD 6800...couldn't hit 60 FPS no matter what I did Eventually upgraded to a PC with a 4070, couldn't hit 60 FPS no matter what I did Tried it on the steam deck... Couldn't hit 40 FPS no matter what I did A few years later I upgraded my PC and ended up with a 6900 XT and 64 gigs of ram... Couldn't hit 60 FPS no matter what I did. I legitimately don't know what the ♥♥♥♥ is wrong with this game but it's not worth even trying.
