This is a replayable, great experience for unwinding and not thinking too hard about things. It's a great game for taking a break from things like Factorio, Baba is You, or Zach-likes. And while the writing is phenomenal, even if you see the entirety of the story, the game remains fun and relaxing. It's my favorite game that doesn't require me to solve any math problems. If Terraria's grinding is taking **way too long**, or The Binding of Isaac is way too rage inducing, this is the perfect game for you. It's that class of "forever game". Just simpler.
Pas mal du tout ! On sent un peu le projet hobbie, mais le jeu est étonnamment prenant. À prendre en promo
Fun little game
It's chill space trucking gameplay combined with unsurprisingly funny writing given who made it.
A really cool space game with grokkable game mechanics that overlay each other to make them compelling and then made very interesting by a fun story.
Chill game with a killer soundtrack.
The gameplay is relaxing, grinding is mostly optional, and the writing is brilliant. If you're the kind of person that seeks to get emotionally attached to fictional characters, this is one game you won't want to miss.
Maybe the good writing starts after the part where I am (2 crew members) but so far I have only meet annoying one-dimensional caricatures of stereotypes as crew mates.
I’ve been a fan of Yatzhee for a long while and is the only reason I’m subscribed to Second Wind at all(meaning that if he goes, I’m unsubscribed). But I never read any of his books, not even in Audio book form, but I was interested in giving his game a try. And it’s good. Story: You were a freighter that was sent by the Earth Federation to gather some powerful minerals to win a war against the machines. And on the way back while in cryosleep, there's an accident and your frozen for 2000 years. Now with nothing but a ship provided to you by your new lawyer, you have to make a living hauling cargo across the galaxy. While there is more to the plot like the stuff involving the giant purple egg in the middle of the map, it’s mainly just you doing your job between plot beats. Sure I like the lawyer at least trying to get you settled even if things get thrown in our faces and there seems to be a theme of finding meaning not only with the crew you get trying to find meaning in their lives and almost everyone trying to find out what’s the deal with the giant egg. Heck, depending on what happens in the climax, you might be asking that question when you’re rewarded for the post-game sidequest. Don’t have much to say about the main story that doesn’t involve spoilers so let's talk about the crew. Between the main story beats, someone will force their way onto their ship and after taking them to their destinations will eventually join your crew. For my first playthrough I got Hole, Sarge, Magu, Melinda and Burlap and while not much they do have a little story to them. Like Sarge is a parody of those FPS protagonists who’s all about WAR and EXPLOSIONS despite the fact this is a cozy game, which gets to a point where even he’s questioning why he’s always thinking about war. Not everyone was well developed for my taste like Hole’s mini story ends at a point that feels like the midpoint where he finally realises something is wrong with him when he can’t feel emotions, and he kind of got on my nerves after a while. Now I know what you're thinking: Who did I romance? Melinda. Gameplay: If you ever watched Yathzee’s Semi-Ramblematic or his previous Extra Punctuation, you may have heard him talking about something about the gameplay loop. And here, the loop is take a job, organise the crates on your ship, take it to its destination, get money. Then afterwards you do some ship maintenance like straighten the engines, clean the filters, seal the cracks. But it’s not just deliveries. You can surveries which are special crates you have to drop in certain spots on uninhabited planets which is the same as deliveries. There wrecks you can explore for more supplies and distress calls which tend to be maintenance for other ships. And each sector has three missions like cleaning a shop, dumping toxic waste somewhere, get close to some asteroid, etc, which is stuff you’re already doing. And then there’s the crew quests that were added in a patch which also just want to do things you’re already doing. So it really does loop back to the central gameplay of delivering crates and maintaining your ship. As for other things, you can add a room to grow crops but I just use it as a store room. Plus add rooms to make better food and get fuel for free from ore which can be handy. But the big thing you get near the end are weapons. And they are just okay. While they can be use to finally get rid of space hazards, they are mainly used to fight enemy ships in the endgame which is just fine. There is a timing for when there’s an opening, but I kept getting hit by them which made the endgame a little tedious. But despite all that, whenever I’m doing a session, I don’t know when to stop. I’m always like “one more sector” or “one more delivery” or “fix my ship first” I have trouble putting this game is all I’m saying. Presentation Apparently Yathzee got the composer for Bullets Per Minute. I don’t know what the music for that game is like but the music here is more ambient background noise. It’s nice music which fits the slow but calming tone and pace of the game. But you’re more likely to have something else in the background while playing. As for the graphics, yes it’s simple and all the planets and ships look the same but I’m reminded of either some edutainment game or some obscure PC game I forgot about, but it does the job. Wish there were more hair options though. Verdict If you never thought you could get into a simple game about deliveries, then try this. 9/10
Great fun and relaxing
