STAR WARS™ Knights of the Old Republic™ II - The Sith Lords™

[Spoiler free review of Kotor 2 with the resotred content mod] Knights of the Old Republic 1 had already set a high bar for story telling, so naturally one may ask does the sequel do any justice? I'd say it's a mixed bag. While in some ways, KotOR 2 improves on the first one namely in combat, crafting system and a companion influence system it falls short on the pacing of the game. The game starts of abruptly, causing the player to ask many questions and the early pacing is very relaxed. However the ending feels rushed. This is expected given the game development was crunched, and there's only so much a mod could fix. But the overall writing felt a bit off. I often see people praising this game's writing, but my view might be different. The companions of this game are interesting however not appealing as they were in the first. The main villian(s) aren't as personal to the player character as the first game. Yes, even the FINAL boss. And in the end some questions were not answered at all, questions that arise within the first 5 minutes into the story. Overall, I'd say this is 8.5/10. Could have been better.

It's a cult classic, come on now! Honestly one of the best, story oriented RPGs of all time. Obsidian was unfortunately rushed making this gemstone into a diamond, so a lot of the game was cut due to development time constraints. But the finished product is still amazing!

i never played these old star wars games but this game changed my mind and i will be playing much more off them. I played a lot of old games on console and pc but now because of uni am limited to mac and this game is a gem. Im not the biggest fan of rpgs but man this game hits different.

I'm playing a 20 year old game, do the math.

One of my all time favorite games and great to play. Fun to play with mods. too many mods will break the game if not compatible.

What's shocking isn't how much I liked this or how good it is - wowee, it's only arguably the best CRPG of all time - but that they kept making new Star Wars media after this. KotOR 1 was really good, but it didn't encapsulate the entire Jedi phenomenon the way this did. Probably Avellone's magnum opus. Buy this and KotOR 1, play them in order, do not rush it.
