This game is not worth your time and money, at least not yet. Sure it is alpha and stuff, but still you would expect it to be in better shape than this when it´s being sold. Story (if you can call it that yet) is unfinished and ends abruptly so it leads to nothing, maybe someday. Dialog is very clumsy, english is at times very bad, there are some typos, there are moments when character name is not there, but a placeholder for a name, skill points don´t seem to matter at times, for example physical training (running) is at 13 (I guess as high as can be), still you will fail any other than the easiest training. Training weekly schedule seems to be a bit random, you get strange points from a training field that doesn´t seem to fit the criteria, you get to see the same stuff (computer & simulation) all over and over again. Action and effect logic seems to be off a lot of the time. Someone wants to start dating you, everything´s good, next time you meet that person, flirt, not interested in you? Others don´t seem to react right to your species. And so on and so on. I guess these kind of games are built as action trees, do this, this will follow, but this game is a mess, logic is scrambled, trees have gone mixed. Lastly I would like to give advice to the maker of this game, save your money, and stop with voice acting. Yes, voice acting can be immersive and give games a boost, but not in this one. There´s no flow, no immersiviness, it just feels random lines after another, it doesn´t work here. Save your money there, and put your focus on music and sound effects. This game is far from being ready, or playworthy. Hopefully someday it will be, but it will take a lot of time and effort from the maker.
I am sad about writing a negative review, but I don't see any other way. I won't recommend this game. I played it on early stage, I played it some months ago and I started to play today. The same mistakes, the same bugs, the same problems.. But the most serious problem is that I cannot even finish the game. In the seventh week, I played as Security. And I died three times in one exact place, no matter what I was doing (although the message says "you win the fight"). After that, I tried to play as Command. And I've got error messages. It seems like the game wasn't ready enough and needs a lot of improving. P.S. I tried to get past the error by choosing Counselor path. Yep, it works. Yet, the game is full of bugs. All romances (especially this one with MKrell) don't work.
It's not worth buying this game atm, you cannot load save games. I played a lot of General Practitioner so i assume this will eventually be a good game. i should point out that because you cannot load save games i did not play much, absolutely pointless for me to attempt it, however the talk of pronouns and what she/her prefers to be called at the start is making me wary of my purchase, if you are inclined, as i am, to avoid......agendas.....then caveat emptor.
The game has come out of EA in a unfinished and broken state. The game is full of bugs and missing text, extrem amount of crashes, These are in the class of: art can not be found showing a crash report, mostly in the adult part. missing art are not shown on picture but a grey placeholder. The game often loops back to a previous day in eternity, forcing you to reload a earlier save or as often start a new game. The window used to interact to crewmembers in their quarters has at the beginning a greyed out choice for adult action that should become functional when a relation threashold is met, but then reached it disapear and never comes back so no adult action with the crewmember is possibly. The art is grainy and low res in the school part, do not know after graduation since the crashes stop me from playing further, but strangly sometimes 1 or 2 npc is low res and a 3 is high res and sharp, so the art is mixed. Do not buy at the moment. The game is not ready for full launch by a longshot, If it get fixed, if ever. Come back and see then. Has played it of and on since EA launch so no refund for me.
2 years and the game still has not updated past graduation. Too busy working on General Practitioner to finish this game first apparently. Seems like there is all of 2 people working on this and spending all their money on voice overs. Good story just alot of crashes and no fixes. I held out as long as possible but looks like it will take as long as Starfield to finish this game so I am moving on.
I really wanted to enjoy this game. I tried it a couple of years ago and it was a buggy mess. I was hoping 2 years of development had improved it. Sadly I was wrong. Bugs on top of bugs. Writing that makes no sense. Grammar mistakes, such as the main character switching from referring to themselves in the 1st person to 3rd person sometimes even in the same sentence. Scenes out of sequence (I assume?) where sometimes an event will trigger with a character you've even met acting as if you have a history, then you never see them again. Still through all of this, I persevered. I really loved the scope and ambition of the game. But the worst part is the gameplay based on on the stat/skill system. The stats and skills have little to no explanation. You have no sense of what is a priority or direct control of how to gain some of them. For example, you schedule your class for Academic Training but have no control over *which* subjects you learn. So it's possible to reach (and somehow exceed) the maximum in one subject while the game neglects your training in another. Which brings us to the even which finally forced me to give this game a negative review. After 15 in-game weeks of training essentially at random my character encountered a scripted plot event. However, due to the vagaries of the random skill learning and no direction on which stats to emphasis, my character lacked *ALL* of the skills needed to progress. Literally every option was greyed out, without even a default sub-optimal option or even a game over. So presumably I'll have to restart the game and try to randomly assign myself classes and stats that won't cause a situation like that again. The developer really needs to be forthright about how undeveloped this game is. An ambitious concept can only go so far, and based on the number of other negative reviews I should have taken them more seriously.
I bought this game because I liked the developer's General Practitioner game which I had played first thru itchio (free) and then purchased it here on Steam. This game, however, had a lot of things in the beginning (relationships, etc) to do but definitely seemed to be rushed from the mid portion (encounter with aliens attacking the school) and the final portion (after the students graduated). The ending made no sense IMO. I was totally disappointed in this game so I will not recommend it.
Right now its unplayable for me, day 0 if you study you get 100% fatigue, if you rest you get 5% less fatigue this means you can only study once and rest every day and not do anything else lol this game is pretty broken. Update, apperently the game works the way its supposed to work, you are not supposed to study at the academy lol what are the dev thinking lol. Update, 24.03.2022 Looks like the game is leaving early access and that means the game wont be finished due to whatever reason behind it. As such you should not get this game, its not worth it.
The game itself seems promising, but with the level of bugs, crashes, and lost assets, it's most likely better to wait until there's a discount OR when the game is more complete. As it is right now, it's a mess to navigate at times and most aspects of the game are left for the user to mainly figure out through multiple trials and errors. There are some pointers now and again, but by and large you learn how the game works by just clicking at random and hoping for the best.
I don't recommend this science fiction visual novel for the following reasons: 1. Like many visual novels being produced lately they fail to realise that a long story does not equal a good story. Frankly this story is slow and boring and without a good plot. 2. Another error, also like many visual novels being produced today, is writting the visual novel like it is a dairy, going from day to day, instead of interesting point to interesting point, which may even be months or more apart. 3. This visual novel is very linear with no true choices that matter. 4. Lots of errors, you can ignore past them, but they should have been fixed a long time ago. If you are looking for a good science fiction visual novel in this genre, I would recommend City of Broken Dreamers instead. I hope this helps you.
