Spooky Heroes is a 2d casual platform game where you're going to play as a knight who tries to unveil the mystery behind the spooky events occurring lately : Undead rising at night, hordes of goblins, orcs, tritons, elves, yetis and heretics suddenly becoming hostile, monstrous creatures blocking the path of travelers... At the first time, you play as a knight. You can move him using a controller or a keyboard. In this case, keyboard controls are costumizable and I recommend you change the default ones. Graphics are colour full, but are quite normal. Plain 2d sprites well detailed but too similar to other games of this kind. Music and sounds are normal too. You have basic attack and defend movements, and some special ones that refill time to time. Later, you will be able to choose other heroes and the game has some nice features as developers tells in store page (find villagers, take quests, buy food and stuff, vehicles, ...) but I've tried to give it more than an opportunity and I was tired at the end of the first chapter. Maybe I haven't found nothing in the first hour that forced me to go beyond and I've found the day/night cycles. When the night falls you can't see anything around. You only see two "meters" around you or four "meters" when you are near a torch, and this fact in a platformer with spikes, enemies that are running around, and platforms in motion have no sense till it has desesperated me. I'll give it another opportrunnity? It's possible... but not now. Every indie game have too much effort behind, this one has some qualities and maybe you will find something interesting than I haven't found, so if you find it cheap, play it and make your own opinion. The game has achivements and trading cards. PS: Thanks to Shade00
God have mercy on those without controllers, the dev certainly won't.
Неплохой такой платформер, как убиватель времени сойдет, есть отсылки к другим играм, играть проще с геймпада.
Atrocious. Controls, graphics, gameplay... Nothing makes sense. To be avoided. If you want a casual 2D platformer with RPG elements, go play Adventures of a Tree instead. It's much better.
-Chose character -Start playing -Finish the tutorial -Find villagers -Take quests -Kill monsters and bosses -Buy food and stuff -Unlock new characters -Hatch a dragon egg -Keep going until you beat the game
Обзор Linux / SteamOS версии игры
Возможно это был бы хороший платформер с rpg элементами, но к сожалению порт кривой, не отображаются фоны в игре, не отображаются сундуки, много текстур отсутствует. Проверено на Ubuntu Mate 16.04.3
♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ BALLS OF LAG BATMAN!!!! 1/10
Spooky Heroes is a really badly made 2D platformer brawler with some lightweight adventure/RPG elements. It's difficult to qualify just how badly made this is, as there's very few games that are this badly made to compare to. Certainly, this makes high level flops like Gollum look like artisinal masterpieces. From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. There's no option to change the resolution and no useful graphics tweaks. There's no way to ensure this is running at the native resolution of your display. There's no guarantee this game will look right on any PC as a result of this hamfisted design decision. The game features simple, cartoony 2D graphics, of the type you normally expect to see in low effort mobile apps. 3D graphics programming does require a degree of skill and competence and unfortunately not all developers have the budget or talent to deliver this, despite 3D graphics cards hitting the mainstream in the 1990's. Considering this is being evaluated as a PC game, having the graphics phoned in like this isn't going to result in a high quality, visually impressive game that PC gamers are used to seeing. The game only displays in 4:3 pillarboxed aspect ratio. It's possible they developed this using an old CRT they found in a dumpster, or this game has been specifically designed for people gaming on PC's from 1995... either way, this isn't really acceptable in the modern era of PC gaming. The implementation here is of such poor quality, the developer couldn't work out how to make the game display in fullscreen, it only runs in a window. Bewilderingly, the game doesn't include proper audio controls, so you can't turn off the annoying background music, you'll need to alt+tab out and stop the music using the Windows sound mixer. This is obviously not okay and it's unclear why the developers chose not to include this basic feature. The controls and game handling are notably very clunky and unsmooth here. It's janky and unsatisfying to play... and any experienced gamer will tell you, the handling, responsiveness and general gameplay feel of the control scheme must be well polished for this kind of game to succeed. Unfortunately, this is something the developer seems to have phoned in, with little to no apparent gameplay testing. They dropped the ball on this one. Some of the defects in the game can be attributed to the poor choice of using node-webkit/NW.js instead of a serious game engine. This is a very poor quality toolset for gaming, sometimes used by amateur developers as it doesn't require advanced game development skills, but unfortunately has very limited capabilities because it's primary function for games is to make simple HTML/browser/simple mobile apps rather than full fledged PC games (and given we are here for PC games, you can see why this is a problem). Just as you can't make a silk purse out of a sows ear, you can't make a great video game if you use a terrible engine. These technical defects push this game below acceptable standards for any modern PC game. You don't have to take my word about how bad the game is, we can measure the interest in a game by how much people bothered to play it. Spooky Heroes has achievements, and they show us a very clear picture that the game absolutely failed to capture any interest from gamers. The most commonly and easily attained achievement is for hurting an enemy, this happens within 2 minutes of starting the game, trivial to achieve, but less than 6 percent of players bothered to get that far before uninstalling the game. That's a tiny, tiny proportion of gamers who even bothered with this. Ouch. Reviewing SteamDB to check how popular this game was with players reveals a surprise... there's a very healthy spike in player counts for the game. But this isn't consistent with the achievement stats, that show less than 6 percent of players bothered playing the game for any reasonable amount of time. How is it possible for this game to have so many concurrent players who didn't bother to played the game? Trading cards. People will use card idling software to collect the cards and sell them, but this won't trigger any achievements in-game. That tells us people only really bought this game for trading cards, and that's a damning indictment of the woeful quality. A closer look at the numbers shows the game just has a couple of players every week running up the game and idling it for cards, then deleting it. We must ask how it benefits gamers for there to be so many games like this, with no merit as a serious game, that only generate sales from people idling and selling the trading cards. Spooky Heroes has the cash grab price of around $5 USD, it's not worth it given the defects and shortcomings with the product, especially considering the sheer number of completely free, much higher quality games on Steam.
Good start teaching. Many cute Characters with special skills. you can change in village. Some fun stories and quests from village. Buy armor and food power-up heros Difficulty if you use keyboard because need dodge and use skills. Nice continue system.
