About
A unique RPG where the villain randomizes the world with each defeat.
Start with a classic RPG experience! The enemy has attacked, your king is dead, and the sacred artifact of your kingdom has been stolen. It's up to you, the descendant of a legendary knight, to avenge your king and restore your kingdom's artifact to its rightful place. But victory is only the beginning!
Upon completing your quest, the villain sends the world into chaos, Splintering (randomizing) your homeworld and rolling back time. It's up to you to unravel these Splintered worlds. Items, towns, and equipment has all been misplaced and your enemies share traits and abilities in unpredictable ways. Complete these Splintered worlds to unlock new challenges, classes, and game modes while getting one step closer to the final showdown!
Features:
Classic turn based combat. Use attacks, spells, and items to overcome your foes.
Level up equipment to unlock a multitude of powerful abilities to define your playstyle.
Mix and match equipment from 3 class archetypes (Paladin, Thief, Mage) with more to come!
Encounter dozens of enemies that, when randomized, shuffle their traits and abilities to form new, unpredictable, challenges.
Hunt enemies to unlock specialized passive talents and take your power to new heights.
Adapt to the randomized world. Improvise, master new playstyles, and counter deadly enemy combinations to overcome the Splintering.
Conquer challenges to unlock new game modes that drastically alter the game such as Roguelike Mode, Clairvoyance Mode, Instinct Mode, and more!
Level up to learn 9 core spells that can be further enhanced by equipment in powerful ways!
8-bit retro styled art and audio for a classic experience (that's MOSTLY faithful to the era).
Customize your favorite game modes and randomized settings to create your own flavor of endless fun.
Unravel a story that begins as a classic tale of treachery and unfolds into one of mystery, secrets, and truths.
Seamless in-game help feature. Telepathically communicate with your father for guidance if you get lost. (Note: Help feature is completely optional. Exploring and talking to NPCs will provide plenty of hints to complete the game without help.)
Endless randomized seeds.

This game is a categoric improvement over Dragon Quest 1. The plot is direct, the randomizations diagetic, and the gameplay has enough simplicity to be grasped but enough variation and nuance that the multiple iterations are very much worth it.
I really like DQ 1 Randomizer, this game have the same vibe, really nice.
Do you like classic Dragon Warrior? Do you enjoy Randomizers? Would you be interested in a game very similar to classic Dragon Warrior titles, but with some QoL and modern concepts that has a randomizer not only built into the game, but as part of the five act campaign itself? If so, definitely give this game a try. Once you've beaten the campaign, there are challenges to undertake that unlock additional options for randomizer mode. So if you want a chaotic run? You can absolutely set that up for yourself. Gearing isn't just 'number go up' either, gear comes with unique abilities that can be unlocked that gives you different ways of approaching combat. Want to be a mage? There's gear for that. Want to just toss torches around? Surprisingly, there's gear that supports that. Want to be a slippery little trickster? There's gear for that as well. It's an innovative take on an old genre that has all but been lost to time, and for me, an enjoyable one.
It's... alright. Obviously inspired by RPGs in the 80's/90's like the classic Dragon Quest games and Final Fantasy games. Very simple but not a bad game in the slightest.
This is one of the few games I have made an attempt to get all achievements. Very good aesthetic, calling back to DQ1 on the NES with the towns and spells. The changes that occur throughout the main story make each playthrough interesting. Adding the Challenges and the Randomizer into the mix and you have a good game for the price. Much better DQ game than anything that has come out in the past decade.
Game is was enjoyable despite being simple and limited although I still suggest buying this on sale. The only major nitpick I have is that the ost is like only 5 tracks with the final boss theme being the best one.
Really enjoyed my time with this. It's essentially the first Dragon Quest, throw in a randomizer, but a story that ties it altogether. The gameplay loop is fun and with every change, it mixes stuff up just enough to keep things fresh.
