I'm on chapter 5 currently, so i can't speak on the ending, but I really like this game. The investigation is fun and the spirits in each chapter are super interesting. I particularly liked the spirits in chapters 1 and 3, their stories were really sad. Chapter 1 might be a little off putting as it has way more sexual content compared to the other chapters, but the story and resolution for the spirit put the sexual content in a perspective where it was actually related to the plot. That's not to say there isn't any sexual content, there's like, 1 naked lady per chapter so far but chapter 1 was the most... aggressive about it.
I appreciate that the spirits are more nuanced than simply "oooo spooky evil monster", it makes them feel much more like the grudges or remnants of real people. I didn't think the game could make me feel bad for chapter 2's spirit but by the end I really wanted to help him.
The scariest spirit for me so far was chapter 4's spirit, but that may just be because [spoiler]pigs majorly freak me out[/spoiler] lmao
one thing is that theres no names above the text boxes, but if you're someone like me that picks up on the different characters's styles of talking it shouldn't be too bad to get used to. you're also typically with only one other person, so it's only in group scenes that this is an issue.
The character writing for the humans is really great, they all tend to be a bunch of the archetypes you expect to see from these types of games (occult obsessed teen, psychic little kid, idol, socially awkward otaku etc etc) but they're written in a way that makes them feel like people, rather than just copy paste tropes. The ex-detective and the ex-reporter are two of my faves
Also i feel like it doesnt even need to be said but the art is absolutely gorgeous. for the audio I had to turn down the ambience slider in settings because it kept jumpscaring me with bird noises lol
this game also has one of the silliest character customization screens ever, what do you mean the only things i can change are if he has a beard and glasses or not lmao
