after a while its got boring, and repetitive and somehow too hard to complete. and not to complete.
I like it better than AoW4. It's closer to AoW3 in spirit.
I'd love to recommend this game whole heartedly, but I cannot do that. There are certainly many things that are amazing and fun about this game. The abilities that you discover and utilize are often interesting (the first time) and useful (sometimes). There were spells that I probably could have and should have utilize more often, but I had my hands full enough with the units I already had roaming the map. The lore seems interesting, and the various missions seem unique enough (until you run into the same ones over and over across campaigns). Units are interesting enough, look cool enough, and seem balance enough within reason. It's really fun to see a squad that you've got win battle after battle and slowly get more powerful with both items and skills. The different mages/heroes you can get seem interesting enough from each other to warrant thinking about which ones you want to run with. Outside of that though, I've had a brutal time with the game. On balanced (the recommended way to play), the AI scales up way too quickly, in my opinion. And it could be a skill or knowledge issue where I'm doing stuff in an order that I shouldn't. But it feels aweful when the enemy squads have 8 t3 units, where I'm stuck with 5 t1 to t2 units. I have goblin archers trying to go up against titans. Obviously that doesn't work. In my last run, I had an enemy squad roll up into my base (which was flying around at the time). I hadn't a clue that they could enter my floating base. Because none of my squads were nearby, I essentiall lost without doing anything. tldr Good: Game looks good, plays good. Bad: unfair AI and often useless units or abilities.
Until now the game looks and feels beautiful! I can play it if I set everything to performance mode, but I'll get an upgrade soon so I'll update my review with more detail!
simply too shallow
Dont expect this to be like HoMM or AoW. Game throws all types of neutral units at you even before u meet an enemy which is super annoying. + the fact that resources is so scarce so it's so hard to build up armies. Really dumb design by the devs. Avoid as it ain't worth your time.
An extremely rough start had me bounce off of it at first, but after beating my first run I can assuredly say this is one of the best Asymmetric 4Xs. Not everything has to be done, you honestly don't have to be strong to beat the game, but the open ended nature to it and how you slowly gather more units, tech, spells, and power until a unique blend built by the player culminates into its own identity deserving of the Circle you hope to join is magnificent. And like any 4X there's several goals to overcome it leading to a flexible end that's defined by choices you've already made and how difficult you want your run to be. I loved it!
