'Speedy Gun Savage' hasn't stolen its name once you realize that speed and timing are important in this game. At first you may notice a slight disappointment as the movement options have very limited locomotion based movement, but you will soon forget this disappointment once you realize that 'speedy gun savage' has been referenced as well to the enemies and this presents a tough challenge. Instead of free locomotion or teleport movement you will automatically move forward and once you stop there will be enemies. Now, once you are shooting you will be able to move by sliding but only to the left and right and also very limited. You will also see objects between you and the enemies, such as rocks, which you will undoubtedly also have to hide behind, the player is supposed to hide or avoid bullets by body movement and less by means of the controllers. For the style of this VR shooter, I think this way is certainly acceptable. Although the game starts in a spaceship, the different levels also bring separate atmospheres, For example, in one level you will have to shoot against cowboys and aliens and in the other you will encounter modern drones, and also boss fights. In short, Speedy Gun Savage is a challenging VR shooter with a very reasonable price. The graphics are not sloppy and the weapons are responsive. Speaking of weapons, the game also has several weapons you can use including dual pistols, dual one handed shotguns & a rifle. Early Access gameplay: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DNDwQp87vlE
Experienced on the Oculus Quest 2
You can view my review & gameplay here: https://youtu.be/Mbui8qgSd3k I might have recommended this game back in 2016. This is a VR cover shooter with now outdated VR mechanics. You're automatically moved (on-rails) from cover spot to cover spot, although you can strafe left and right behind cover (with joystick). You can duck down behind cover and basically try to get shots off against the enemy AI that is pretty dumb, but also a pretty good shot and bullet sponge. Your guns do automatically reload. You switch guns by via button press on your motion controllers. There's your standard revolver which has unlimited ammo, a shotgun (for short distance max damage), and an 2 handed assault rifle that does your long-range damage. Funny enough, there are no sights at all for any of the weapons, so good luck aiming down sights! Luckily there are saved checkpoints, because you will need to redo sections because it's easy to die from taking too much damage, especially if you're not patient in staying behind cover. Game is running on the Unreal Engine. On my RTX 3080, I did get a steady 90 fps. As mentioned earlier, this is an on-rails shooter so there is no locomotion or smooth / snap turning, but oddly enough you can strafe left or right behind cover with your joystick control. I did experience bugs as far as getting suck in the terrain. There are just certain rocks you can't get behind or you'll get stuck. I had to manually quit and restart from the checkpoint when that would happen. I'll admit, I didn't get far in this game. I wanted to see a boss fight, but I just found the game too boring to try to get myself to the boss fight. There's nothing I liked about this game. The sound mix was bad. The visuals were generic. The gun mechanic and cover system is outdated. The enemy AI is pretty bad. The game is buggy as well. I just can't recommend it, even though it's in Early Access and has the possibility to improve in the future. I wish the developers well and hope they can make the game better, but I won't be around for that. Rate 3.5/10. Early Access, but nothing about this game makes me want to continue playing it.
Please note: I received a free Steam key through the Steam Curator Connect program. I've only played through the first boss so this is basically just a review of the beginning of the game. It has a couple issues, main one being it does't work correctly on Quest 2 via Virtual Desktop wireless link but it does work fine with the Link cable. Smaller issue is that you have to rewatch the boss arena intro video every time you die against the boss (suggest moving the checkpoint to just after the video) Edit: They made cutscenes skippable :) Overall had quite a bit of fun with this so far and will be playing more soon :) Edit: I've now played all the way to the final boss and while there are still a few technical issues in the game it is a absolute blast to play! and the devs are very actively listening to feedback and working on patching everything up :) my only hope is it sells well enough to enable the devs to add more worlds and bosses :)
If you have a greed for in-game bounties, then this is a perfect game. I've played other games which include money and different earning methods and this game is just the boss of the bosses. It has everything that a typical gamer needs. Aesthetics, sounds, storyline, graphics, etc. The center character is just amazing. The game also involves a sidekick 'Evan' who proves to b a great help which also keeps the game engaging. In short, it is a fun game.
Well the game is worth playing considering the amount at which it is offered. You will enjoy it if you are fond of space, different environments and obviously the aliens. Yes It has some restrictions on the movements of the character. Example, you can slide only to the left and right while shooting but who cares, you get many other options which you can enjoy. You get various weapon options, different challenges at different quests, and many more. In all, it's a game to be recommended further.
Just starting the game you did things you never should do in a VR game which is force controlling the camera to create a cinematic experience. This will trigger insta nausea on many players. I could not get further than the arcade machine because the index controllers are horrible binded and do not work correctly.
Already over 12 hours into the game and it's among the best VR shooters out there, the game has an almost iconic feeling style to it and it takes me back to the arcade days. Some of the most fun I've had.

Der nächste stinklangweilige Rail-Wave-Shooter in VR. Schade! Gibt es keine anderen Ideen mehr? Und selbst in dieser Kategorie ist dieses Spiel nur höchstens unterstes Mittelmaß. Daumen runter!
