About
Species: Unknown is a first-person survival horror game, playable in co-op with up to 4 players (private or public servers) or solo. You play as a mercenary sent aboard an abandoned spaceship. Your job? Execute high-risk contracts, make it out alive, and claim your reward. But keep in mind that you’re not alone. Something is hunting you…
Form a squad of up to 4 players to take on different contracts with escalating difficulty. Each mission plays differently depending on your objective, your teammates, the map and which of the 5 intelligent threats is stalking you. No one survives alone, but you can try.

Proximity Chat & Radio are available: distance matters, walls matter. Proximity Chat is bringing more tension, sometimes chaos, and unforgettable moments to your co-op sessions.

Every contract drops you into a different nightmare. Whether you're tasked with extracting a black box, capturing or eliminating an unknown threat, or even destroying the ship to prevent the creature from escaping… Each mission demands a specific strategy and none of them are easy.
The specimen is chosen procedurally from a growing roster of terrifying monsters. Each one comes with distinct behaviors, hunting patterns, strengths, and weaknesses. You’ll need to investigate your surroundings to gather vital clues and identify the threat in order to proceed smoothly (or not). Do your job and get rewarded, or die without anyone knowing.

Strategize as a group, make smart use of your tools that can turn the tide, if only for a moment:
Motion Tracker : Detect nearby movement and prepare for what's coming
Shield : Block deadly attacks and buy time for your team
Health Syringe : Heal yourself or allies in the heat of battle
Mini-Map : Navigate pitch-black corridors with real-time positional data
Guns won’t always save you. Some threats are too resistant or simply untouchable. But the right weapon, found at the right time, can help you push through or even take the creature down.

The higher the risk, the higher the reward. Completing contracts earns you credits you can use to:
Upgrade your gear
Buy new tools
Customize your appearance
Gather lore and build your own creature museum

This game is amazing I love it, I really can’t wait to see more monsters and maps. Keep going devs your aweome
This game is very objective oriented, slow to start but then things quickly go sideways as missions progress. Communication is key, with eyes on the prize. Very fun with the lads. Runs extremely well and looks good on my less than good rig.
I hate big maps, I like the guns. pew pew pew ♥♥♥♥♥
This is the 54th time I have said "This game is 10 dollars...." For 10 dollars, you literally can't ask for more. It's so good. If this game had 2-3 more maps, it would be an easy 40 dollar purchase. The Enemy AI in this game is exceptionally well done. Every boss feels unique, and the objectives vary enough to not get boring despite there only being 1 map currently. Going to easily get another 30+ hours out of this game without it becoming boring. If you loved Alien: Isolation(One of my favorite games ever), You will enjoy this. Well done devs. This game is truly outstanding...
Salvete omnes!
This game setup the foundation for something beautiful. While this is a 4 player co-op game, it goes far beyond just a simple "friend slop" FPS game. Since it's in Early Access, now is the perfect time to hop in and see what this game has to offer. The premise of the game is that you're going to derelict spaceships with an unknown life form on board that has killed the entirety of the original crew. The game will change drastically depending on your objective, the mission modifiers and of course the creature. Because this is an FPS game there are guns, but the presence of weapons really gives you a false sense of security as you'll most likely lose a one on one encounter. A really cool detail is that each creature kills people in very distinct ways, meaning you can find clues as to what you're fighting before you even encounter it by observing the remains of the previous crew members to determine their cause of death. Some criticisms I have with the game right now purely just comes from the map. It is incredibly well designed and the presentation is amazing, from the boarding/exiting cutscenes to the interior layout and how everything feels cohesive and lived in. With that being said, some areas of the map offer some crazy power positions that trivialize encounters. One example of this was in the medical section of the map. There are two rooms right next to each other that offer both healing and ammo, letting a competent team setup in there and bully certain creatures, which took the scare factor out of it for me. Also because there is only one map, you can remember the layout pretty easily before trivializing one of the game's few equipment items. Some minor nitpicks I have is that the player character models always have their mouths open, which to me personally just looks unusual. Also the lighting in the character editor does not reflect the lighting in-game so editing the color of your suit gives you a false idea of what you actually look like. Thankfully there is a first-person body so you can just look down and see what your model ACTUALLY looks like and fine tune it that way. With that being said: This game is in early access so the content that is here is absolutely beyond what you'd expect. Controls, gameplay mechanics, combat and progression all feel very fluent. Not only that, the game looks good and actually runs decently! There are also these really cinematic cut scenes in the game, which was something I did not expect! I won't spoil anything, but after playing for awhile I can say they have not gotten old! Definitely a must buy to anyone looking for a game that is cheap, fun and made for a small group of friends.
