Abandonware that crashes a lot. Evolution game that has mechanics designed to discourage evolution. This game holds a special place in my heart but it is objectively not very good or worth purchasing.
Great game, could be even better with updates. But after being left alone for another 3 years after the announced comeback, I've step backed and accepted it's slow spiral to death.
this game hasn't recieved an update in more than 3 years and it crashes constantly, need i say more?

Abandonware. never finished.
Love the game, come back to it occasionally while listening to Evolution podcasts or shows. Creator of this game, we miss you! Hope everything is going well in your world.
Great Game but its sad to see it in this state of no updates for 3+ years. I love doing war crimes though. Its a good game to pick up if you don't mind the crashes and the no updates
I have mixed feelings about Species: ALRE. On the hand, I do love this janky little evolution simulator and have put over 200 hours into it. Messing with the landscape, experimenting with parameters such as global and regional temperature, seasons, fertility, gravity and so on, to see the what kind of weird, wonderful and sometimes downright silly creatures would evolve, or what effects a change in environment has on your existing creatures. It can be quite an interesting and relaxing time, when the game works as intended. On the other hand, this game was clearly never finished and it shows. It's a bit fiddly and janky, as worlds become increasingly unstable over longer periods of time, resulting in an increasing amount of fairly regular crashes and unexplainable extinctions, among other things. This can absolutely ruin the fun you were having with your simulations, and I've had to abandon a number of simulations that had been running for several full days because of constant crashes and general instability. Species: ALRE can absolutely be fun if you're into evolution simulators, but I'd recommend only picking this up on sale, because it's frankly abandonware and not worth it all full price.
This game can be considered abandonware at this point. It's been in early access for over 8 years now and the developer has gone missing with no game or news updates posted for the last 4 years.
