The biggest little RPG in the world. Post-apocalyptic retro space adventure with an extreme focus on role-playing and replayability. Inch wide, miles deep - intentionally short yet surprisingly deep.

A heavily flawed gem, but a gem nonetheless. Space Wreck's main appeal is the sheer breadth of options afforded to you. Do you want to play an asocial weirdo who's good with computers? That's an option. Do you want to be a bullet-spewing psychopath? That's an option too. An empty-headed charmer? You bet your bottom Peercoin that's an option. I've heard rumors that you can even play as a well-rounded and functional character, but I think that might just be hearsay. The game is, in its own way, very pretty. From its Commodore 64-esque computer monitors, to its 1970s-esque interior design, down to the title font that I SWEAR is the same font that was used for Paradigm and is therefore The Eastern European Aesthetic Font in my mind, everything about Space Wreck is unique and engrossing. The writing isn't too shabby. While the overarching plot is nothing to write home about (you're wrecked in space and need to get supplies to get back home before pirates catch you), the characters and individual side missions are vivid enough to put a smile on my face. The game lets you play a lot with being a spacefaring rogue . You can sneak up on cambots and hack them into uselessness, or you can commandeer some with a nearby terminal. You can zero-G jump down hallways in a single bound (something which has some marginal utility in certain parts of the game). You can sneak up behind some poor unsuspecting jamoke and KICK HIM INTO SPACE. I don't think I've ever been afforded this much freedom by an isometric RPG before. I've kicked so many people into space. I've kicked a mechanic into space. I've kicked a pervy mob kingpin into space. I've kicked a Magic: The Gathering nerd into space. If I ever wind up on a starship, they'll have to strap me into my seat because otherwise I'll remember this game and my kickin' legs will get itchy. Now the downsides. Most combat, aside from the creative problem solving I mentioned before, gets kinda old pretty quickly. Yes, being able to hack a remote-controlled bulldozer and using it to take down your enemy's physical powerhouse is pretty fun, but it drags on by quite a bit when you realize that health scales exponentially with a character's strength stat. A small number of the missions feel vaguely tacked-on or half-thought-out. In particular, the Mast portion of the introductory level feels unnecessary (and wasn't necessary during the demo! It wasn't in the demo, and the demo still rocked! I played that demo like seven times because it was so fun!). One of the later levels makes techie characters go through a maze of monitors to disable some rogue robots; downside is, it's hard to tell through the the fog-of-war mechanic as to which route has the disabled robot, and which one has the rocket-launching nightmare of machinery that will one-shot you and splatter your remains across the bulkhead like your gangly corpse is foie gras being fired out of a Howitzer. These are the minority of missions, but it still bears mentioning The worst, however, appears to be the bugs. On starting my second run, I was quickly met with a bug that caused the screen to cut to a tableau of the stars, with precisely nothing I could interact with, following the end of the first level. On another run, the game stopped displaying labels and inventories of objects when I hovered over them, and rendered it impossible for me to interact with anything other than ladders, hatches and anything else that would transition between scenes. I suspect these will be fixed eventually, but if that's a dealbreaker for you, I'd give it some time before you buy it. The script also has a few translation issues in places, but that's pretty minor. That being said, I'd still recommend Space Wreck. It's an inch-wide, mile-deep take on CRPGs that really explores what makes the genre so fun.
I love this game but I'm tempted to switch my review to negative due to the many many bugs and unpolished systems. It's a great game when things work but sadly they break so often that it ruins the entire experience
I like it, I like the engine, but it has pornographic references. I cannot recommend any game with that sort of content regardless how "good" it may seem. Nothing like that belongs in any library or brain.
A classic Fallout-style game that's actually enjoyable to play for stealth-oriented players. Though word of advice, don't try to do something with less than 3 in the skill unless you're fine with almost-certain catastrophic failure.
I ended the game becoming a pirate. 8% of the content was discovered. I guess it requires a lot of reruns or save game reloads and start agains. That is something I don't like. It took some time to understand the ui and how things work. My first launch of this game was a disaster it crashed but the dev(MC) fixed it. After some time I gave it another try. This time because of bad first experience sometimes it was unclear that something is intended or just not working. Overall I see that there is a lot of effort added to make this game. Hats off to the team. A lot of characters created that is cool. For me it was really slow to start feeling the game as the character while I really liked the Latvian pixel art and words used to name things and characters.
come for the nostalgia of playing a 30 year old style of game - leave when you find out it has views about men and women that are 30 years out of date
Short, isometric RPG that is good, but on a 6/10 level. I personally enjoyed it and had fun going through the different endings and using a new build for each run. There's three main areas in the game with each one taking ~30-45 minutes to complete. However, It is possible to skip to the end from the very beginning if you see the opportunity in front of you. The biggest downside to this game is the lack of itemization. One of the things I enjoy doing is snooping through every corner of the map for items that could give my character stat upgrades, but there is nothing of the sort here. Pair that with the small amount of positive traits that outweigh the negatives, and you end up not feeling like you really progressed when you get a level up or move to the next area. Your build is essentially locked in and fairly static from the get-go. Recommend on a sale. You'll get your money's worth if you typically enjoy isometric RPGs.
Such a great crpg, the atmosphere the depth and the sheer amount of times you can replay it without having the same experience is awesome. I wish more games did this,
An excellent old-school RPG with a lot more depth than I'd originally expected. It's not without some bugs and jank, but not enough to detract too much from the overall experience. If you like Fallout 1/2 or the original Baldur's Gate, you should give this a try.
