its a solid 3.5/5 Levels are challenging so played in easy mode . Story is there but didnt care. It feels repetitive but at same time they keep adding stuff to make gameplay fun.
Fun game. Feels a little samey at the start but improves as you go. Cute interludes to break it up and keep the interest. Controls feel snappy and cool powers to tailor how you like to play.
Score: 8/10. If you enjoy run-and-gun action games, Soda Crisis is an easy recommendation. You are given a massive toolkit of moves, including sprinting, wall-climbing, sliding, grappling hooks, and mid-air dashing. Dashing gives you brief frames of invincibility, allowing you to seamlessly weave through bullet hell. The movement feels smooth and stylish. And the game features an excellent weapon-building and perk system. You can customize your firearms and defensive gears with different ammunition types and modifiers to completely alter your build. The story is pretty forgettable and the campaign is fairly short, but the gameplay stays consistently fun from start to finish. A hidden gem for fans of arcade shooters and stylish action games.
Realy nice game. Really just keeps surprising you with the quality and depth.
Soda Crisis is a genuinely made Chinese 2D platformer/shoot'em up/bullet hell hybrid following along the early 1990's side scrolling shooter genre, as you control a little robot thing with guns, a melee attack, and a grappler. Gameplay is frenetic and twitch orientated... die and retry is the theme here (at least we don't have to keep putting in credits for more lives). Insulting amateur developers everywhere, this has fairly good visuals, and a few other technical boxes are checked... with one exception. On the upside, the game does feature customisable controls and resolution, so at least some of the basic, minimum requirements have been met. Unfortunately there's a number of other technical defects and shortcomings which contribute to the game being difficult to recommend to gamers. This looks a lot like it was designed for consoles, but released on Steam instead by mistake. While this is on PC, it has all the hallmarks and deficiencies of a console game, from the clunkier than needed control scheme to the less than cutting edge graphics. There's 10's of thousands of PC games on Steam, and PC gamers deserve only the best. This might not appeal to many gamers due to the lack of PC-centric design. It's unclear why this never made it to the video game console appliances it seems to have been designed for. There's no proper mouse control, lending more credibility to the theory that this is a console game in exile... I guess there are challenges for Chinese developers getting their stuff through Microsoft, Nintendo and Sony's QA for consoles, and where they have QA departments, Valve has "Steam Direct". The graphics in this game are really quite good, which at least makes the game look more appealing. And while it's vital for any game to have impressive visuals (gaming is a visual medium, after all), there's more to a game than just the graphics. To be worth a gamers time and money, the game must match top tier visuals with top tier gameplay, and that's not happening here. The game somewhat lacks the "perfect" level of polish it needs... this is one of those cases where the developer came so close to greatness but missed by a very narrow margin. Enemies are sometimes bullet sponges... the gameplay can get repetitive very quickly due to the general shallowness of the genre. It's very poorly balanced, with difficulty suddenly ramping up even on "easy" difficulty level. Which is a shame in some ways as I found the very core game loop of shooting enemies to be really promising... it felt "just right" which is exactly what you want from an arcade game. There's a few potentially game breaking bugs, but the developers haven't updated the game in 3 years, it's abandoned and any problems you encounter won't be fixed. Buyer beware! Optimisation is also a problem... this is a great game to use to test how loud your system fans can get when this pushes your GPU to 100% immediately. These flaws make this game fall far short of the professional standards we expect from a modern PC game. Let's talk about price and the value this represents for us gamers. Should you buy this game? Is it among the best the Steam catalogue has to offer? Soda Crisis has the slightly too high price of $11 USD, for which you could easily get any number of older AAA games. For comparison, the $11 asking price for this game could get you games like "Divinity: Original Sin 2", "Valheim" or "SCUM"... definitely better than this, even if this isn't terrible, it's not an award winner either. Unfortunately Steam reviewers aren't presented with a "Maybe" option... if they did, that's what I'd choose. This isn't a completely bad game, but it's also not one of the best. As always, if you read my review and you can overlook the negatives I've called out, or they just aren't important to you, then by all means go ahead and buy this.
The game is fast, fluid, and easy to get into. Movement and combat are intuitive, and navigation is always clear, which keeps the action seamless. What I enjoyed most was the overall energy of the experience. There is a lot happening on screen, but it stays fun rather than overwhelming. The lighthearted tone and stylish presentation also add plenty of charm. It’s one of those games you can just pick up and enjoy for what it is.
