Chimera Custom XG is a fantastic game. Movements are smooth, The skill tree is easy to use and there's always options if you want to try to use a different weapon to progress though the game, No matter how you want to play it, there's a way for you to enjoy this game no matter how you play
I can best describe Chimera Custom XG as a Contra-like. This game has almost everything the body needs- Good movement tech, weapons galore, and lots of peculiar places to explore. There’s a good variety of enemy types in the ecosystem, and the bossfights can be very, very challenging at times. The PvP is kind of Smash Brothers style- I wouldn’t call it *competitive*, but it’s funny as hell to beat your friends up with “the power of genetic engineering and this neat gun I found.” All in all, it’s a ton of fun and even better with friends, as most things are. I’m excited to see what Volok cooks up for this in future updates!
This game is amazing and super reactive to the movements. You gotta be fast and quick to get through some of those bosses.
I had a ton of fun with this game. Music is awesome, graphics look great, gameplay is solid. I found it hard, because my reflexes aren't as sharp as they used to be, but it wasn't too hard. Looking forward to checking out the co-op play in the near future. If you like bullet hell, sidescrollers and rogue lites, this is all of them bundled into 1 package. Well worth the price.
I'm only a few hours in and am having a blast. I absolutely love all the weapons and upgrades. Oh and the music is straight up jam city, sometimes I just wanted to listen to the killer tunes in the hub, then I remembered I was supposed to be playing the game lol
Chimera CUSTOM XG is a fast-paced rogue-like that absolutely nails that classic arcade feel. It scratches a nostalgic itch reminding me of Contra with its relentless action and intensity. The game leans hard into bullet hell chaos but never feels unfair, just challenging in that "one more run" kind of way. Co-op is a standout here, turning the already hectic gameplay into something even more chaotic and fun. What really keeps you hooked, though, is the depth of it's controls. There's a ton to dig into, and you can invest a lot of time refining both your build and your skill level. The custom builds are where the game really shines, experimenting is half the fun, and once you figure out certain combos, some builds become insanely powerful. It's the kind of game that rewards both persistence and creativity.
Chimera is a fast-paced, ridiculously fun, infinitely replayable bullet hell. The buildcrafting aspect of each run allows for absolutely insane combos, and the movement is some of the smoothest I've felt with a controller. All of the different DNA powers are awesome too, and accommodate a wide variety of playstyles. The game shines brightest (and the chaos is magnified) in Co-Op, it's even more fun with friends! I'm really excited to see what the future holds, for both Chimera Custom XG and Volok!
Just wrapped up my first time playing this game. What sticks out to me is the deep customization that impacts the gameplay - this creates a good dynamic environment which wants me to come back and progress to the next level. You can tell the developers put a lot of thought and effort into the fine details of this game. The mechanics feel really clean. The visuals give great vibes. Not only does the game feel high quality, but the progression & challenge make me want to boot it up and make another run. Highly recommend, give it a try.
I don't play a lot a Side Scrollers but I do play a lot of Rougelikes. For being a small indie studio there's a lot of polish that's been done to the game that makes it very easy to play. Some of the upgrades you get during your run end up being super sick. One thing that surprised me was how helpful and viable the melee is in the game. Kick a bad guy in the face and they stay down for a bit which helps give you breathing room when things are hectic. At the end of the day I would definitely give this game a shot. It's a lot of fun and if you're someone who likes Side Scrollers and blasting dudes this game is perfect to do that for hours.
yes good game
