Soba's Gunpaw

Tons of upgrades and a satisfying gameplay loop, easy recommend if you like these types of games

Game is a great time killer/achievement hunt. Gameplay is fun, it gives you an initial clear goal, and even when 'grinding' nothing feels like a slog.

The gameplay is boring and upgrades are verly grindy.

This game really is quite cute. Soba's Gunpaw is a tower defense game where the tower is a cat that you can install tech on to help him survive taking a stroll into a world with cars, rats, dogs, trash bins, and what have you. If Soba bravely overcomes these obstacles, he has the chance to woo a lady cat to earn a prized kiss! Soba's Gunpaw adds a food mechanic that enables the player to entice Soba to move, but you get only so much food to entice Soba each round! The graphics are pretty cute. They are animated very well and gives me a nice cozy vibe. The text and font used within the game is superb, with textual emphasis being presented with animated words and different colors. I quite appreciate the effort put into the text and font. The music bops and didn't seem to overstay its welcome. The sound FX was quite pleasant and didn't feature anything off-putting. I did have to turn it down a little, but that is personal preference. My only complaint is the GUI in the module upgrade screen. It can get quite busy, but you have the option to minimize elements of the interface, so my complaint really is just me submitting myself to screen clutter. Overall, a fun game. And cats, if that's your thing.
