The game was most exhilarating not only because of the vast amount of planets and solar systems to visit but the combat part of the game can be difficult but rewarding once you win. There are times when you will not receive the ability cards that you want thus encouraging you to improvise when needed. Even the selections of faction to join and the option to create a "pirate empire" is impressive. The only problems are that there are times when the enemy would receive unfair advantages such as an EMP ability that never misses or the enemy's space vessels are larger than your own and this can kill the pleasure in this game. The second problem is that the Smuggler's Guild DLC is not useful at all because even if you succeed in this DLC, you are required to pay a fee for owning a pirate base and that can kill you financially during the gameplay. Don't count on the income from the Smuggler's Guild to payoff the pirate base ownership fee. I would recommend this game to "hard-core gamers" but for those who are perfectionists or have a low frustration threshold, I would not recommend this game unless you play it on your cheap or old computer because then you can smash and swear at the computer without any guilt after you get blown up by your enemies when they are cheating.
A fun little time killer from my younger years long before steam. I played the other versions since 3, i think. I wouldn't buy it for full price (10+$) its maybe a 2$ to 5$ or the whole DLC pack + game for 10$ (DO NOT BUY THE INVASION DLC as of posting there is a bug in the main story-line that hard stall's the game, at least it did for me. Warrior Within Quest Showdown 1 upon arrival you only receive one prompt and the second End task level hard stalls the game with a "cannot find file" error) TLDR Lacks depth but its charming. You have to find your combat loop and stick to it. Game is best when your at Corvette or Cruiser level. gets old in Destroyer plus size's, battle's overstay their welcome. early grind is fun, but earning 10m credits for the largest ship is tedious unless you take Smuggler start. TLDR Balance pain points Limited Trait\skill options. Each Career start has a different skill tree, okay cool right? Yea... Smuggler is just the best, Smuggling things in a game called Smugglers being the best Career.. who's surprised? Mission income sucks compared to Smuggling in a Warzone, being the primary issue. Why fight something worth 120k when you can just sneak past and make 300k? or WAY more. Additionally the Developer has chosen to lock the Factory and Pirate Base (Battleship also i believe) behind Skill progression. which locks your choice of Career based on what you want to do in the end. not where you want to start from. You can't buy a factory without starting from the Trader start, Similarly with Smuggler start and Pirate base. I say all of this just to form a perspective of the game. it isn't bad for what it is, a "solo" developer doing their best. Just don't expect to much from it, and you'll have a good time. Just one more Turn. Thank you for reading.
At first I was having a good time with the game but after a few hours I began to notice some pretty serious problems with the game. The biggest frustration is with how you repair you spaceship by letting time pass which is I guess an ok way of handling that issue but there is no way to pass time without traveling to a new planet or jump point which puts your already weak ship is danger of being found by enemy craft. I can not tell you how many times I have barely gotten through a tough fight against a larger spacecraft only to get caught by another the second I move to repair my ship... My other issue is that has the game progresses leveling up your character can actually hurt you by unlocking skills you will never need and having to wait in combat for the skills you want to show up since it is random. I spend most time in most fights spamming useless skills to clear room for the off chance that I get some of the skills I want. Also not all spacecraft come with the ability to flee a fight so good luck is a destroyer class pirate jumps on your ship that can flee... Honestly even for $9.99 I am pretty bummed that I bought this game.
Smugglers 5 Secession is a very good space adventure game. Pros: + The game allows you to select four different factions, six unique professions, lots of space ships and equipment. + As a trader, you can buy and manage a company. + As a fleet officer, you can command a fleet to destroy enemy fleet or star bases if you have a battleship. + As a bounty hunter, you can find and destroy criminals and pirate outposts. + As a smuggler, you can smuggle all contraband goods to everywhere and make big profits. + As a pirate, you can attack or raid other space ships and planets. + Random combat skill system. It's like poker game because you never know the next hand. + You will explore different planets and finish side quests. Although some of them will kill you. + You can marriage with governor's daughter. + There is little time limits in the game except your age. But this can be extended by a special medicine. + After you beat the game, you still can play it. Cons: - I have successfully create a pirate empire and beat the game. According to the description of manual, I should become the first galaxy emperor. However, game's rating system still said I'm a Senator in the newly founded Galactic Senate. So I think no one can unlock the first line because it's broken.
