the good, the story is fine and the Tower Defense (ish) bit is fine the bad. oh boy how do i say it, the level are bad, like some some levels NEEDS upgrade as the Achievements say no upgrade, i call lies. to get those upgrade is by challenge that no fun or easy at all i never rage so much on the game before difficulty jumps at some point that is like "woooo" to "HOW IS THAT FAIR?" even on easy btw and the last level, u have to fight a lot bosses in a row in one go, i am ngl, i regret buying this and i could never finish it (oh and mods don't work for it) i hope the dev next game is fair and good but i am sorry but this is a no for me
不伦不类,一开始以为是普通的横板过关,但又非得加入rts元素,搞得哪边的没做好,而且操作系统令人发指,恶心的操作系统,恶心的地图,恶心的怪,动不动就搞成日墙游戏了
Pretty good game, had a lot of fun. Gameplay outside of the tower defense bits are more or less Megaman X adjacent. I recommend it if you like moderately tough but not super tough meme difficulty platforming adventures (this isn't Wings of Vi but you will still die, perhaps a lot). The platforming isn't the tightest experience, but it is an acceptable one, and the level design isn't boring. But, BUT I think it was a poor design decision to pack these side bonus stages in the levels, instead of having people do them outside of the levels. They will make the levels in this game feel very long especially since you can't save while you are in a level. Like what would be a 10-15 minute excursion will turn into 30 minutes to an hour trying to get all the collectibles. I will swear up and down that the lightening whip armor is bugged. You can at some point learn to charge your whip and if you try climbing a wall and hitting something with your charge, your charge will up and disappear. Also can't get the wall run jump flying spin sword tech to work consistently for the life of me. This games story doesn't feel very complete. You will end this game wondering who all these people you met are, and the game doesn't actually care to tell you more about them. Thankfully, it doesn't pull a golden sun (find out more in the sequel that is never coming lol) sort of ending.
Make Chinese and English speaker feel at home: Bilingual Curator
Overall, pretty great! The gameplay is properly challenging and the art is good, and there's a good emount of content for the price. The three elements / modes are each unique, and I grew to like all three of them... eventually. My one complaint is that most situations greatly favour the element the level is designed around, or the one element that is superior to the others. Although this may be an issue with my playstyle. Most boss-fights are great! Really difficult, but quick restarts make for an exciting challenge that can last as much as an hour. All (7-ish) but two of them (that I can think of) allow you to squeeze in more attacks at a risk during the action, rather than the predictable "my turn to attack... your turn to attack" pattern that is all too common. Many seem to be complaining about the RTS sections, but I have to disagree. They're not great, but they do break up the monotomy of endless platforming, I honestly found them quite relaxing. If the devs ever make a similar game, I suggest they should keep the RTS sections, but make the mechanics simpler and the choices more interesting. The story isn't anything special though. The humour is... okay, but nothing is serious until right at the end... kinda. Eve (the main character) is... not a character, quite simply. She doesn't say or react much, she has a motivation, but it's promptly ignored until the endgame. Essentially, Eve just serves as a good looking woman for smelter to occupy. I'm not the type to complain about that, but there could've been a little more here, you know? Oh and if you (like me) expected this to use biblical ideas in any way... then no, just no. There's an "Eve", an "Adam", and "Apples"... That's it. One more complaint, because I am a pessimist: There's almost too many buttons to keep track of... Which sounds weird, but keep in mind you have 3 elements / modes to flip between too. I actually completely forgot about the super attack, because it has no utility, which made me really confused during
the last boss where you have to use it
.

Smelter is an ambitious action-platformer that combines retro-inspired side-scrolling gameplay with territory management mechanics, resulting in an experience that feels both nostalgic and refreshingly unique. Developed by X PLUS and published by DANGEN Entertainment and Gamera Games, the title draws clear inspiration from classic 16-bit adventures while introducing a blend of genres that helps it stand apart from many modern indie releases. Rather than focusing solely on platforming or combat, Smelter constantly encourages players to balance action, exploration, and strategic expansion throughout its lengthy campaign. The story follows Eve, who finds herself separated from Adam after a catastrophic event leaves her stranded in an unfamiliar world. Her journey leads her to an unusual being named Smelter, a powerful and outspoken ally who becomes central to both the narrative and gameplay systems. Together they embark on a quest across diverse lands filled with dangers, mysteries, and strange inhabitants. While the plot is relatively straightforward, it succeeds thanks to its colorful cast of characters, humorous dialogue, and a steady flow of new locations that keep the adventure engaging from beginning to end. The platforming component is where the game shines brightest. Movement feels responsive and precise, making every jump, dash, and attack satisfying to execute. Levels are carefully designed with hidden secrets, environmental hazards, and challenging enemy encounters that reward observation and skill. The game gradually expands Eve’s abilities through a large collection of upgrades and powers, allowing players to customize their playstyle while unlocking new methods of traversal. The progression system constantly introduces fresh mechanics, ensuring that the gameplay rarely feels repetitive even during longer play sessions. Combat is equally enjoyable, featuring a variety of enemies and memorable boss battles that test both reflexes and strategy. Different elemental abilities and combat enhancements encourage experimentation, and mastering these tools becomes increasingly important as the difficulty rises. Boss encounters are often highlights of the experience, combining creative attack patterns with visually impressive presentations. The challenge level can be demanding, but victories feel rewarding because success is usually tied to player improvement rather than luck. One of Smelter’s defining features is its integration of strategy mechanics. Beyond the action stages, players must expand territories, gather resources, construct buildings, and command units to protect their settlements. These sections evoke memories of classic hybrid games that combined action and kingdom management. While the strategic systems are relatively streamlined compared to full-fledged real-time strategy titles, they add meaningful variety and give players a stronger sense of shaping the world around them. Progress in these segments also contributes directly to Eve’s growth, creating a satisfying connection between the two gameplay styles. Visually, the game embraces a vibrant pixel-art aesthetic that captures the charm of classic console gaming while benefiting from modern design sensibilities. Character sprites are expressive, environments are richly detailed, and the variety of locations helps maintain a sense of discovery throughout the campaign. The animation quality is particularly impressive, bringing both heroes and enemies to life with fluid movement and personality. Every region feels handcrafted, demonstrating a clear dedication to visual polish and artistic consistency. The soundtrack complements the presentation exceptionally well. Energetic battle themes, adventurous exploration tracks, and atmospheric melodies help establish the tone of each area. Sound effects provide strong feedback during combat and movement, enhancing the overall sense of impact. Together, the audio and visual elements create a world that feels lively, memorable, and deeply rooted in the spirit of classic gaming without simply copying the past. Despite its strengths, Smelter is not entirely free of shortcomings. The combination of platforming systems, upgrades, strategic management, and territory expansion can feel overwhelming during the early hours. Some players may find the learning curve steeper than expected, especially when transitioning between action-focused and strategy-focused gameplay. Additionally, while the management mechanics are enjoyable, they are not always as polished or as engaging as the platforming segments, occasionally feeling secondary to the main adventure. Even so, the game’s willingness to experiment ultimately works in its favor. Rather than relying on familiar formulas, Smelter takes risks by blending multiple genres into a cohesive package. Its strong level design, rewarding progression, charming presentation, and creative gameplay structure make it a standout title for players who appreciate retro-inspired experiences with modern ambitions. The adventure remains consistently entertaining thanks to its variety, ensuring there is almost always something new to discover or master. Smelter succeeds as both a tribute to classic action games and a confident attempt to build something original. The combination of responsive platforming, strategic territory management, engaging combat, and beautiful pixel art creates a memorable experience that offers far more depth than many of its contemporaries. While certain systems may not appeal equally to every player, the overall package is impressive, polished, and highly enjoyable. Rating: 7/10
Yes Yes I would I love this game I have yet to finish it when I have time. The art and music is amazing and the game has left an impression on me long after playing it. I love the animations and unique take on skills and even find the little base building mini game to be quite enjoyable.
