menus are too complicate. worst tutorial i've ever seen and the movements, ship and on foot, are ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. It's a shame, i liked the idea but not worth it even for 3 euros
I paid 3 euros for this and i still feel ripped off.
game is actually good if you're not into swordfighting or swimming lmao.
Only worth it on deep 90% discount
It's an arcady, fantasy ship combat game that did get better after 2 years Don't expect the quality and content from Black Flag, even as this started as multiplayer DLC for it. Skull & Bones lacks good story, ground combat, climbing and exploration. Instead it offers now more ships, even large ships similar to Man O' War, fantasy style combat with Poison, Fire and other elements, large red glowing weak points, boss ship fights and tons of challenges to complete. It has classic Ubi problems of convoluted menus with menus upon menus, lazy balance for higher difficulties (World tiers copied from Division so you die in 1-2 hits), tons of expensive paid cosmetics like glowing ship skins, skeleton as player character and pvp is so bad that you have to manually turn it on, can't attack anyone else who hasn't also turned it on or you're forced into pvp for 2 factions war missions and you die in a second and gain nothing from killing other players. Overall, IF you're looking for a Black Flag like fun pirate game, look elsewhere. But if you're okay with arcady naval combat game, where you shoot glowing bullets, get to control large ships and play in mostly pve content with tons of things to finish, for $3 it's worth it. Game trial won't show you much, the start is slow and can feel difficult, as combat is level and heavily stat based.
Commenting on another review I saw. This game is NOT Elite Dangerous in the sea. Not even close.
Absolute chaos in every menu, every game system and totally empty world. Incredible waste of potential and money on development.
Every time I broke my Don't buy Ubisoft game ever again rule, I got reminded why I created that rule.
It feels like an empty game, not good enough to go to the heavy area if that is better, I doubt it. Just hours and hours constantly of just going in circles pressing mouse button to fire, that's it. Beautiful but hollow game :\
Actually, it's not as bad as people make it. I was pleasantly surprised. Solid ship combat mechanics, a good amount of different things to do, and a nice atmosphere. Definitely no AAAA-quality, probably not even AAA, but good enough to spend a few hours alone or with friends. It goes on sale every now and then for less than $5. Wait for it and give it a try.
