Fantastic idea and fantastic game! wish the game would continue to get updates! you have something really quite special and unique here.
Picked this up on sale a few days ago and have not been able to put it down. While the game is not perfect, I found it to be very addictive. There does not appear to be a tutorial and there is not a lot of explanation in game (a civopedia type drop down might be a nice addition if the dev has time), but the steam discussion board has had fairly quick responses to questions that i have asked. I have also seen some bugs that were mentioned in the past that were fixed. I did not expect to like the arcade flight sim as I bought it simply for the strategy portion of the game. The mouse controls are a bit yippy, but it was fun to track down a zepplin and shoot it down. The strategy portion of the game has room for improvement, but I have had plenty of fun with the strategy portion of the game. There appear to be some oddities that hopefully the dev will address in the future: while you are able to make new bases while playing the campaign, it does not appear that the cpu opponent takes the opportunity to make new airbases in this version of the game (v2.1). Also, some of the variable mission assignments have not worked well (not sure if that is due to a mistake on my part or if its a bug - the dev has responded that he is looking into it). There are plenty of AI options to offload your workload in the game - the most frustrating part of the game for me personally is to not accidentally hit the airbase ai button while trying to select my planes that are over the base. It would be nice if we could check a box to turn those ai buttons off. I had such a blast with the game that i made a mini-mod called "First Base Start" that has one base on each side. This small mod lets you focus on one base until you get the hang of the controls in the game. I have seen some mentions in the discussion page of people that have problems with the game running. I have not had that experience. I have played the game on two computers - one is 14yo highend (at the time - at least i hope it was highend since I blew so much money on it) gaming laptop, the other is a mid quality (at the time) gaming desktop from about 6yo. The laptop has a little stutter now and then (but keep in mind its on its last legs) and it appears to run fine on the desktop.
Two games in one! A very (very, very) basic flight sim that is still a lot of fun, and a management game that is catnip for Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome junkies that lets you manage aerodrome, squadrons, planes, pilots, missions, etc. If you know who Werner Voss and Mick Mannock were, you are going to eat this game up!
Fun and simple air combat/war management game. Combat is fun and it mixes arcade with simplified sim mechanics. Very difficult to learn the controls & UI at times. A lot of trial & error + googling. Overall a good game, def pick up on sale.
ok so i gave it an honest go. i love flight sims but lately due to hands acting up im stuck w mouse and key. this by no means is a flight sim but flying in it is kinda chill imo. making ur own wings and sorties is really cool. u can make up markings ect. good game if ur a ww1 nerd like me. its not super deep and is in ways reflective of its price but worth every penny bc only it does what it does and keeps it simple. i say try it. ui takes some getting used to and use vulkan btw. dx12 works but stutters for me.
A problematic yet wonderful game, very much in the style of 90s WW1 flight games. With a bit more polish from a more sophisticated studio, this could be the absolute gem of WW1 flight games. A fascinating blend of operational strategy mixed with actual dogfighting. I really, really hope this game gets more love from the developer.

Broken mess, bad design, iffy and poorly designed UI functionality, incredibly small number of aircraft in play. Air combat is either poorly simulated (if allowed to resolve itself), or boring (if the player handles it). The real-time strategic layer was a serious mistake, as was the way aircraft and pilot assignment is handled. The dev himself has said he's putting much less effort into the game because it didn't sell well enough and he had to get a job, so I don't expect much improvement. Btw, I didn't actually play 20 hours at review time. It was more like 8, but the game froze at one point and made Steam think it was still going.
