About

Powers divide the continent, growing in power and wealth, city-states rise to prominence through mastery of commerce and trade. These mighty merchant republics rise above their peers from Tripoli to Granada and from Novgorod to Genoa. You are the leader of one of these republics and you will shape the history of one such city-state, bringing it to glory and power - or watch it disappear into the currents of history.
City States: Medieval is a bold continuation of Reverie World Studios' long-standing strategy series, introducing completely new mechanics focused not on continent-spanning empires, but surviving between them as a city-state. The dynamic, unpredictable 12th century Europe and Middle East offers new challenges, while the completely new hero mechanics demand a completely fresh approach to strategy from newcomers and veterans alike.

The city is the heart of your mercantile empire. Plan your expansion and advance accordingly, growing your city through economy, military, faith, trading, and building chains. Do not neglect defense: You are leading a city-state surrounded by powerful kingdoms, who may decide to plunder the city's wealth. Fortifications will be key to defending your city, along with an all-new siege system featuring real-time tactical combat.

Trade is the key to the city's survival. Establish new trading outposts across the known world to gain access to twelve precious commodities, from wool and linen to spices and silk. With every trade route the opportunities expand, bringing with it more wealth and prominence. Each route also makes the city a more attractive target for rival powers, demanding a strategic approach and navigating the treacherous world of politics and warfare of medieval times.

In the age of great men shaping history, your leader is no different. Growing in experience and skill alongside the city, they define how you can react, enabling real-time battles and defense of the city, boosting city growth and construction, or carrying out complex intrigues in foreign courts. Every decision is a calculated risk: Do you send him on expeditions to distant lands to find new markets, leaving the city more vulnerable? Or do you focus on strengthening the home, risking that opportunities will slip away?

This game just feels good to play. It’s easy to get into, but still gives you enough control to feel like your decisions actually matter. Building up your city is genuinely satisfying, and nothing feels overly complicated for no reason. Just a really solid, relaxing medieval city-builder that ended up being way more fun than I expected!
If you are into RTS games, that are fast paced and have a historic learning curve (and some cut scenes that talk you through what is to come) this game is for you. When it comes to PC/Laptop requirements I recommend only looking at the Recommended specs and ignore the minimum specs. When scrolling in and out with the mouse wheel (thinking it will zoom in and out) it does something unexpected. When scrolled out you have a top (ish) view, when you scroll in, the view does something weird (I've never seen this in any other game) when getting a closer view. (No I'm not going to spoil the surprise ;P ) Recruiting troops, trading and building up the settlements is quite simple compared to the Kingdom Wars serries/collection. Diplomacy and research is also much more simplified. I didn't finish the 1st campaign :( I'm not good at the whole move my troops into battle bit and win at the end of it :) The music is good, the graphics is not begging for a 4k or dual 4K monitor (which is nice when you have 2 4K monitors set to 1080p) and when you want to extend the shelf life of your graphics card.
I can't even finish the Tutorial without it crashing. Save Your money.
Looks decent. If only it wouldn't crash every time I'm slightly in the tutorial. I'd save your money as it does it every time for me.
Great game, even though the graphics, gameplay and mechanics are out dated its solid . BUT OMG THE CRASHES ARE REALLY DOING MY HEADING!!! you have had the same crashes in the previous games and they still exist even after the update you claim to have fixed.
我已经无语了,这个制作组是准备用一套兵种皮肤染指所有时代和题材。关键是皮肤还那么丑。步兵的还马马虎虎,骑兵真是丑到没边,既不真实,也不美观。 I'm at a loss for words. This development team is trying to use a single set of unit skins to cover all eras and themes. And the skins are downright ugly. The infantry ones are barely acceptable, but the cavalry ones are ugly beyond belief – neither authentic nor appealing.
Just want 3 hours of my life back......
Again a job well done.. Looking forward to have the possibility to choose wich City we like to start & build out as great as possible :P
Usually not a strategy game person, but this one kept me interested. It doesn’t feel overly complicated, and it’s nice figuring things out as you go. Pretty chill game that ended up being more enjoyable than I thought.
