I'm playing my way through all of the ND games, and I suspect most people reading this review are too, regardless of reviews! But here are my thoughts anyway. I have mixed feelings about this one. i really enjoyed the setting, the art, hieroglyphics and translations really made it feel immersive. however, i found a lot of the puzzles quite laborious and challenging to figure out - there were several that i had to consult a walkthrough for and did still feel a bit stumped on how you were supposed to figure that out without backtracking for two hours/reading ten thousand texts lol. also, the plot was simultaneously compelling and confusing. i enjoyed the diverse cast of characters with their varied motivations, but i felt like it also fell rather flat?? there were several questions raised that were never answered, several theories suggested but never followed through on. i was kind of confused at the end what really happened with the purpose of certain characters. overall, it's going in the middle of my rankings list, and i'm still glad i played it!
The Nancy Drew series really started to go downhill with this game. The suspects are pretty flat characters and everything seems to hinge on solving puzzle after puzzle after puzzle.

This game is pain.
Heavy on the puzzles. Loved it.
Took advantage of the detective sale and bought a bundle of ND games to journey back to my childhood! I had not completed this one in the past, so it was brand new to me. The puzzles were fun and slightly challenging but not too much. There are a lot of cryptogram puzzles to translate, so heads up if you don't like those! Dialogue with the characters was fun and humorous at times similar to other ND games. None of the puzzles were timed ones which I appreciated so I could enjoy them better!
Another utterly unhinged Nancy Drew game, I love it. I missed the survival horror elements from Ghost of Thornton Hall but the adventure story was a lot of fun and the characters were much stronger. It remains unclear how Nancy is qualified to be on this expedition, both to me and Nancy herself, which really only adds to the insane lore of HER Interactive Nancy Drew. My only critique, as noted in several other reviews, is that the puzzles aren't very intuitive. I've only played a few games in the series but this one was the most difficult by far.
I was an egyptology kid, I will admit, so of course I was interested when I found a Nancy Drew game about the tomb of Nerfertari. The graphics felt slightly off but that is probably because I'm more used to the less bright ND games. However. This game is very easy to bug. I'm not even quite sure how I did it. I sent away one of the NPCS to snoop, and they simply never came back, so I couldn't interact with them and progress the game. I had to restart my entire playthrough and was very much less happy about it, I don't think I can even remember the ending because I was too stressed about not softlocking the game again. However, when not softlocking yourself into a corner and crying about it, this game was quite enjoyable! I liked a lot of the puzzles and I loved the lore and to explore the tomb. 10/10 would slap Abdullah Bakhoum again.
Nancy Drew: Tomb of the Lost Queen takes the iconic young detective into the heart of an archaeological excavation in Egypt, delivering an adventure built around ancient history, hidden chambers, and an intriguing criminal investigation. Developed and published by Her Interactive, the game successfully blends historical fascination with traditional point-and-click detective gameplay. Rather than focusing on supernatural spectacle, the story centers on the mysterious events surrounding the discovery of a forgotten royal tomb, where unexplained accidents threaten to halt the excavation. Nancy must determine whether these incidents are simply unfortunate coincidences, the work of a saboteur, or something tied to the legends surrounding the legendary lost queen. The Egyptian setting is easily the game's greatest strength. Every location is filled with carefully designed details that evoke the atmosphere of a real archaeological dig, from weathered statues and decorated burial chambers to narrow underground passages lined with ancient inscriptions. Exploration constantly rewards players with new clues, artifacts, and environmental storytelling that reinforce the feeling of uncovering a significant historical discovery. The developers clearly took inspiration from Egyptian culture and mythology, allowing the setting to become far more than just a backdrop. Instead, it becomes an active part of both the mystery and the puzzle-solving process. As the investigation progresses, players encounter a cast of archaeologists and specialists whose personalities, ambitions, and hidden agendas create a web of suspicion. Each conversation provides pieces of information that may support or contradict previous discoveries, encouraging players to pay close attention to dialogue instead of rushing through it. The narrative steadily reveals personal conflicts, professional rivalries, and buried secrets that make every suspect seem capable of interfering with the excavation. This layered storytelling keeps the mystery engaging while maintaining enough uncertainty to make the final revelation satisfying. Puzzle design remains faithful to the series' established formula while drawing heavily from the game's historical theme. Challenges involve deciphering symbols, unlocking elaborate mechanisms, studying ancient artifacts, and solving logic-based riddles inspired by Egyptian architecture and traditions. These puzzles rarely feel disconnected from the narrative because they naturally fit within the exploration of an ancient tomb. Players are rewarded for observation, patience, and logical thinking rather than quick reflexes, making the experience ideal for fans who enjoy mentally engaging adventures. Multiple difficulty options also ensure that both newcomers and longtime Nancy Drew players can tailor the challenge to their preferences. The presentation contributes significantly to the adventure's appeal. Although the visuals reflect the technological limitations of the period in which the game was released, the environments remain attractive thanks to strong artistic direction. Detailed carvings, warm desert lighting, dusty excavation sites, and mysterious underground chambers combine to create a convincing atmosphere. The soundtrack reinforces the sense of discovery with subtle musical themes, while ambient sounds help immerse players in the isolation of an active dig site. Voice performances further strengthen the storytelling by giving each character a distinct identity and emotional presence. Beyond its mystery, the game offers educational value through its exploration of Egyptian history and archaeology. Information about hieroglyphics, burial rituals, excavation methods, and historical artifacts is woven naturally into conversations and puzzles without disrupting the pacing. Players learn about the culture behind the mystery while remaining focused on solving the case, giving the adventure an informative quality that has long been one of the defining characteristics of the Nancy Drew series. The game is not without a few drawbacks. Navigation through certain underground areas can occasionally become confusing, and some puzzles rely on careful experimentation that may slow the pace for players seeking a more streamlined experience. A few supporting characters could also have benefited from additional development to strengthen their roles in the investigation. Nevertheless, these minor shortcomings do little to diminish the overall quality of the adventure, as the compelling mystery and immersive setting consistently encourage players to continue exploring. Nancy Drew: Tomb of the Lost Queen stands out as one of the franchise's more memorable mysteries thanks to its distinctive historical setting, intelligent puzzle design, and steadily unfolding detective story. It captures the excitement of archaeological exploration while preserving the thoughtful investigation and problem-solving that longtime fans expect. Players looking for an atmospheric adventure rich with history, challenging puzzles, and satisfying storytelling will find this installment to be a rewarding experience that remains enjoyable years after its original release. Rating: 8/10
The screen is flickering so bad I cannot play. I have seizures..................
This game is an interesting blend of some of the more old school aspects nancy drew games and the more puzzle heavy aspects of the newer ones. If you're not a fan of the puzzle heavy aspects of the newer games then this may not be one you enjoy, out of all the nancy drew games this one isn't my top favorite but I wouldn't say it's my least favorite either and probably falls somewhere more in the middle. It's a decent game with a beautiful atmosphere, but it probably won't be the "life changing" title compared to most of the other games in the series.
