A fun little platformer I found via following coda on Spotify. The game has nods to all the great classic platformers in its gameplay, enemies and environments. Platforming veterans will blast through the game and extras with ease, but difficulty isn't the aim here. Buy Sir Noggin if you want a few hours well spent.
Sir Noggin is a colorful and enjoyable platformer that made me feel like I was in the early 90s all over again. The pixel art is very colorful and charming, the music is very good and the game controls perfectly. It took me about an hour to play through but there are some extra challenges and a boss rush mode that'll keep you busy a tad longer. The level designs are varied, there's some fun sub-weapons to try out and while there's a tiny bit of challenge I think this is overall an easier platformer. If you're looking for a fun platformer that plays similar to retro classics, you should play this for sure. Video review: https://youtu.be/JcoibD7OQpo
The perfect pick-up-and-play kind of game! There are quite a few little mechanics that I didn't even realize were in the game until a few levels in, which was pretty cool. Loving it so far!
This one's a bit easier than Sinclair Strange's other games, I managed to get all achievements (finish all levels without dying, beat all challenge stages, beat boss rush) in under ninety minutes and that included me taking breaks to do some chores. The presentation is great, with Kirby inspired graphics and sound. For $2 I have no room to complain when the product's this well made, but I couldn't shake the feeling that as a 2D challenge hound this just wasn't made for me.
Sir Noggin name-drops the Master System as its inspiration, and I can see it - at least aesthetically. The orange checkerboard pattern of its first 'zone' is straight out of classic Sonic, and it has a bright, chunky visual style across the board that evokes something like Alex Kidd or Psycho Fox. A lot of the actual design of the environmental visuals and enemies, though, reminds me more of Kirby's Adventure than anything on the Master System. In any case, Sir Noggin is a pretty straightforward 2D platformer. I got through the main mode in 90 minutes without particularly rushing, and while there are some challenge modes, those aren't really my thing. It's a perfectly fine game, but not a memorable one either. It leans very heavily on the nostalgia of its aesthetic to carry it, and it works well enough for the game's brief run time, but it doesn't do anything uniquely its own either.
Worth the price! Sir noggin is a action side scrolling game that has bright colors, lovely sprites and a real toe tapping soundtrack to boot, only flaws is it's REAL easy (Great for kids or if you're bad at retro games.) and it's short. took me just a little under hour to complete, but had a *fun* hour. the game has challenges to take out and a soundtest to jam these tunes, boss rush as well. If you really like classic side scrolling action titles then pick this up, it's cheap, good fun and well made!
A wonderful 8bit Style Platformer!
