PC gamers must've had it rough when this was the only Silent Hill game available on Steam before the Silent Hill 2 Remake and Silent Hill f.
well, what can you really expect from such an old game i guess? i don't even think that i got out of the tutorial before i quit because if i minimize the game, it ALWAYS crashes when i boot it back up. this is especially bad because iv been trying to stream silent hill games to my cousin over discord while we hang out. maybe ill try this again if they ever fix this but i doubt that they will.
The worst version of one of the worst Silent Hill games. I actually enjoy Silent Hill: Homecoming, but the Steam version is an absolute disaster. It is mind-boggling that Konami still sells this product in this state. It is a broken mess that requires hours of digging for community mods and patches just to launch, and even then, it suffers from major stability and controller issues. It runs a bit easier on Steam Deck, but the controls are terrible because this port was a total afterthought. a painful reminder of the era when PC ports were completely neglected by developers. If you really want to buy this game and you have an Xbox One or Series X/S lying around, buy the backward-compatible version on the Xbox Marketplace instead. It frequently goes on sale for only a couple of bucks, works perfectly fine with zero messing around, has no stability issues, and features much better controls. Trying to get this broken PC version to work properly is truly not worth the hassle.
porque creasheas silent hill, si yo te amo
i love this game but the crashes are insanely bad and the reason why is bad because the game dont AUTO SAVEEEEEEEEE like WHYYYY i havent even played this game properly because of the CRASHESS and i wanna play the game but i cant... HOW CAN THEY FIX THIS ISSUE BRO I JUST WANNA PLAY THE GAME AND NOT CRASH EVERY 10MIN AND THE SAVE POINTS ARE JUST NOT THERE. This game is good but beware to waste ur time alot because of the crashes because they can happen anytime so dont enjoy this game and just keep in mind that if ur having fun it WILL crash. and u will be staring at your homescreen thinking about ur financial choices of buying this game. 6/10 because of the crashes and the audio issues are messed abit because my right ears enjoy the blessing of the monsters screaming. Good gameplay and play AT YOUR OWN RISK.
Yeah i am sorry but this is one of those games you just gotta watch a summary on YouTube. Think of one godamn awful PC port, the game is literally unplayable most of the time and heavily relies on community mods in order to work. But even with the mods installed the game will still crash, making you lose all of your progress if you didn't reach a save point. If i read the reviews i probably wouldn't have wasted 7 BRL on this, atleast it was on sale but it's not worth buying. The game sacrifices it's horror aspect for a combat that it's not even that good to be honest, some enemies are awful to fight with, not even the bosses are that annoying. Now, i wish i could talk more about this game if one of the crashes didn't delete my whole ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ progress, i was on the 2nd boss fight, the giant doll thing, but even if i try to reach it again my game will keep crashing and honestly, i am tired of getting stressed because of this laggy game, and it's sad saying this because even with all the cons i was still enjoying the game, but i've had enough. If you want to play it then PLEASE PIRATE THIS GAME, I AM WARNING YOU!!!
Steam version is INCREDIBLY buggy and glitches, but homecoming itself is a great game and I really enjoy the games story even with the clunky combat. There were some parts of the game that have glitches that make the game practically unplayable, like the clock puzzle in the otherworld version of the house. If you complete any other puzzle before the clock puzzle jt randomised the code (2;06) or just completely wipes a valid answer. It's pretty easily fixed though. Set the clock to 2:06, save the game than quit, reload and its fixed. This is pretty much the only BAD issue i had with the steam port. Hopefully it prevents other people from giving up on the game like I did first time round.. lol ^^ Overall the games story ties in pretty nicely with silent hill 3 and the monster designs are INCREDIBLE, possibly my favourite out of all the SH games. Once you get over the awkward combat, the game is great and honestly abit overhated for what it really is.
This port is a crime against humanity, literally unplayable, had to install a ps2 rom in order to have a nice and smooth experience. People who think the original game is that mess need to get they ass beaten for sure. THE SOUNDTRACK IS AN ABSOLUTELY MASTERPIECE. I love to blast that symphony over and over till my ears are bleeding. ONE MORE SOUL TO THE CALLLLLLLLLLLLLLL
As a SH fan I loved this style of movie&game mix. I know this is one of the least rated silent hill games and yes it crashes. It didn't crash as much for me as it sounds like it did for others. My game was always saved and I made sure to go back to save spots frequently. If you pause the game for too long or leave it idle, it will freeze, and you will have to restart the game. The story was good. The monsters are tops. The scenery and the vibe is on point. It was very linear. You do have maps but for the most part its still straight forward, not much exploring is allowed. For instance, you will have liminal space type explorational spaces but then most of the doors are locked and cant be opened. There is a straight path, one way to go. Combat is super bad. Dodges barely work. All boss fights were manageable apart from the centipede. Needed a lot of help for that one. Despite all that, I honestly really really enjoyed this one. The story is amazing. The feel is amazing. Thats what I'm here for. The gruesome imagery, the cult, and to learn more about silent hill.
