Well i guess this game would be good still if the sword battles actually worked and not on pure luck,,, the rest of the game is mediocre but it is 22 years old so i can't blame it. for you who don't know how to battle use the numpad
I love this game...however after a few hours it started crashing and you cant save your progress it will play fine for 30 minutes then when you are really getting into it it crashes. Steem will not refund either. Big dissappointment. It crashes at differnet times during a sword fight or during a trip to the merchant. Super lame.
Unfortunately as others have already said, the game is unplayable. The controls are lagging and work half the time or less. If some update is going to fix it, I will change the review since the game is great.
Controlls are pretty broken. Makes it unplayable. :(
Sid Meier's Pirates! Gold works exactly as I remember it, from hours and hours played as a child. It seems that the issues that others were having with DOSBox have now been fixed - the music plays normally and the ships move at the appropriate speed. The only issue it has is the DRM (based on identifying pirates flags - this helps: http://www.goodolddays.net/file/file%2C89/id%2C229/type%2Cdocs/ ). The game feels more freeform than its successor, and is still a great way to explore the Spanish Main and become a buccaneering legend.
Einfach ein geiler Klassiger den man endlich auf Steam erwerben kann.
Playing just pirates classic on dosbox launch option, have had none of the issues others have reported; it's the original game and it's great.
Loved the original and loved this version even more. Had a PowerMac with softwindows on a SCSI external hard drive just to play this game this 18-22 years ago. Before that a friend had it and we played whenever we could. Can't believe I can play it again.
Play the 2005 remake instead
Working in dos mode only and I am very disapointed. I am not going to play this game.
