Major Bawbbawbins Boocraft vibes from this one.
Oldie but goodie. I've always liked the simplicity of the game. It is challenging but not so much so that it isn't fun to play. Can't go wrong with a classic.
Not that it matters so long after its initial release, but I purchased this game retail at the time of launch, Cd ,box, manual and all. Have been playing this game on and off ever since. However this version is nowhere close to the original version which imo was far superior. Great game for its day, but you must understand that this game will cheat you mercilessly, like all of this guy's games do! And no for the record, a Roman legion cannot defeat a chieftan tank!! No matter what maths probability tells you. So Why I have never recommended this game despite many, many, years of playing simply comes down to this; If you give a game a set of RULES, then the rules must apply even when you are beating the game! I hate games that bend the rules just so you can't win (fairly), and this is one of many games that does exactly that. Of course you can actually beat the game, and do it quite easily at times, but you will have to endure the French attack, wait not enough? Okay how about French, English, and Spanish! If you are still winning then expect the Dutch and the bloody Indians too! There, that should wipe you out
One more turn... and it's 2am
Very interesting resource mechanic system.
Sid Meier’s Colonization is a nostalgic cornerstone of strategy gaming that still holds up better than you’d expect. After Pirates! on the NES, this was my first real dive into Sid Meier’s world - discovered with friends on a school computer where we’d lose hours before, during, and after classes. It’s the game that defines my nostalgia for the Civilization-style experience as a whole. Coming back to it now has been a genuine joy. Yes, it’s dated, but not in a way that makes it frustrating or inaccessible - its systems are still clear enough for modern players to grasp without too much trouble. That said, without the nostalgia factor, newcomers will likely gravitate toward the more modern Civilization games. For me, though, this classic remains a warm, time-traveling trip back to the computer lab days.
Oldie but Goldie. This game is the very meaning of nostalgia. I recommend.
old but gold.
